Edward, with all of your connections, do you know a vendor or fabricator that could make a simple insert? if he could make something the right size, with the right arc that we could attach directly onto the existing piece with a little epoxy, that would make things mucho easy.

Yes, but i'd need to have a steel stamp made (~$500). And then it would cost about $10 to engrave each one for a small production. And then possibly deal with copyright/trademark issues if i wanted to sell it. If you guys could just give me your shift knobs, i could "personalize" them for much less.

I would be really interested in the AMG cap Easty posted from the Black Series as well. Hopefully, just the cap and not the whole (expensive) assembly.

Bump.

Has anyone been able to get the AMG plakette for the shift knob in the US? Does anyone have the part no. to the SLK AMG Black Series shift knob?

I can get it but it cost's alot and find it not to be better than the Brabus illuminated version, The part no's are available in one of aquascape's posts here or in Benzworld.

I have the part no. from Aquascape's post on the AMG plakette but don't have the part no. of the Black Series plakette.

Talked to the assessories guy at ACC, he is very helpful, and he even had a picture of it and said I was the second guy to ask about this and the he had tried everything and everyone he knew with no luck at all. :(

I thought I found a Keyless Go shift knob on fleabay, but it may not look as good as I thought. An AMG or one like the picture would be a really nice upgrade, count me in.

Interesting thread

I never thought I'd see AMG 55 owners look with envy at the star on the shift in my humble 350 ;)
It's kinda stupid don't you think and really makes you wonder what the heck are these guys at MB thinking  There shouldn't even be a thread in relation to this, pretty said.

Not looking for a MB Star but am AMG plakette.:tu:

The simplest method is to remove the existing badge and drop in a mirror finish disc with teh emblem laser etched onto it. A dab of epoxy will hold it in place.

The problem is removing the existing badge. I think the most likely option is for someone to get a gearshift knob from a wreckers yard and experiment with removing the badge. I imagine any MB shift will do, as long as it is the same shape.

Of course I'm happy with my star, it matches the one on my wheel, and an AMG badge would be fake on my 350

I tried to get it but AMG performance studio wont sell it to you unless your in germany with your car.

Well I was merrily cutting an pasting financial data into a table when the word "emblem" popped into my mind.

So a quick google for "amg gear shift emblem" brought up a post in another forum where someone confirmed it is glued on his W210. So it simply needs a carefully applied screwdriver to lift it off.

A google image search for "amg emblem" also brought up a load of image files including a B&W image that would be handy for engraving should you need it for your personal education/study.

That then threw up this interesting product ... although the "auto rice" name may indicate that this topic is crossing into the realms of poor taste....

Edit to add - googling for "AMG emblem" is very productive

seems to be lots of badges, 'emblem" but can seem to locate for the gear shifter.

Anyone who finds one kindly post it, in the mean while I shot off a email to the dealership I deal with.
