Nice, thanks for sharing, there was a thread some time ago started by corkscrew, something along the lines of 'life with the slk', your second pic reminds me of that thread, maybe we should start one again and post random pics of our slk's.

Man, I'm beginning to like the de-badged look, think I might do it this weekend.

:tu:Very unique and aggressive looking SLK 55 - NICE! The front sure looks low. Great pics.
Actually, the rear is lower than the front, but I was backed over a bump on that 'camp sign' picture. if you look at profile shots, you'll see i have plenty of clearance in front, but the rears are almost tucked in.

Edward, nice personalized plates. :tu:

I hope you don't get a ticket for covering the personalized plate with the plexiglass cover (IIRC, not legal in CA). I don't think they will unless you're stopped for some other violation.

the cover is illegal (fix it ticket, no points on the driving record, AND they don't work to avoid red light cameras). it is a primary offense, in other words, one can be stopped merely for having such a cover.

VERY NICE black housing head light !! Do u do get them done by yourself?? I personally like to paint the side marker in body colour. EXcellent!!!

wow scott! i didn't realize it's a primary offense...might have to rethink it then...though i really like the look.

I got the headlights done locally, took part of them apart myself, but the shop could have done everything, i just wanted to get my hands dirty ::lol::

Removed H&R springs and shocks and replaced to BC racing Adjustable coilovers. The H&Rs were nice, but I wanted higher performance and more adjustability.
The model I ordered is the 'J-03 04-10 SLK RWD R171' and I requested the optional pillowball top mount for added camber adjustment.
Pillowball top mounts greatly increase steering precision but transmit A LOT more noise and vibration through the wheel. The effect is similar to solid suspension mounts. Since the car is more and more a weekend car, I don't mind this as much.

BC racing is the ODM manufacturer for a lot of coilovers across the market, from very high end to very cheap stuff. From what I see in my kit, their own brand "BC" is similar to there very high end stuff, but about half the price.

At the same time, I changed to narrower rear tires (325 down to 305), this makes for a more solid tire contact patch, with only a small loss in traction.

Pictures below, and updated list at the very bottom.

I had a full 3d scan of my car done a couple months ago so I can rebuild all the files in modern digital files.

Why did you scan it with the tow hook installed?
Ah, I usually leave the tow hook installed in case I need an emergency tow, and also so the hole that's needed would be clearly scanned, since the hole position is really important.
