So on the advice of i860. I bought a Cartman battery tester. The results are as follows:
Check Before Charge OK (Green)
Battery State Full (Green)
Alternator State Fault (red)
Voltage output from battery when stationery 12.4 V
Voltage Output when engine running 14.8V
To a complete novice, that would appear that the alternator is charging the battery atleast but is it possible it could be some regulator issue causing it to overcharge?
I bought a basic Creator scanner and a few codes showed up but none actually mentioning the alternator directly. Here are the codes and perhaps someone could shed some light on them and advise if any of these sound like an obvious link to the fault being shown on the Command unit.
I understand this may be a garage issue but its always an advantage to go to a garage with some experienced info if possible
So the fault codes read are as follows:
control unit reversible emergency tensioning retractor has a malfunction. The signal comparison is faulty.
The relay decoupling of starter battery has a malfunction. The actuator is blocked.
The output for the mirror heater has a malfunction. There is a short circuit to positive or an open circuit.
The charge movement flap (cylinder bank 1) has a malfunction. The signal amplitude is less than the minimum amplitude.
Really appreciate any input you could give guys. Thanks
