Thanks guys. Did some checking today and found the GPS to be off by a few miles. It had been dead on accurate until I put the update CD in the head unit. I did a reset as mentioned above and it deleted personal waypoints, but continued showing inaccurate location and the CD still would not eject.I took the head unit out of the car, disassembled it, removed the CD player and coaxed the CD out. Reinstalled unit and tried and played a music CD. It ejected normally. I then put the update CD in. It didn't update and then ejected on its own. I'm hopeful the unit will "find" it's correct location. I have not set the clock and it has not reset on its own yet. Perhaps the GPS will correct its location when it resets the clock.
In hindsight, I used a partially used CD to download the update since I did not have a blank one. That could have started the problem. I only have DVDs presently. I am going to try and find a Blank CD tomorrow and try again to update the head unit.
Thanks,
Ed
Just in case someone should find this later and need to remove a stuck CD, I add this: Once the head unit is out of the car and on the bench, open the top by removing two screws. Carefully open the top and remove the ribbon cable going to the CD player, which is in the top. Remove the CD player by removing 4 small screws, one at each corner. When the player is removed from the head, you will see a small slot in the back and the loading slot in the front. There is a cone shaped spindle that fits into the center of the CD and that is what is holding it. Take a flat tip screwdriver and place it through the back slot and onto the edge of the CD, then put GENTLE pressure forward. It if comes out, you are lucky and finished. If not, get a long flat object such as a hackwaw blade and put it in the front slot. While applying GENTLE pressure from the back, twist the blade....also gently. The CD will begin to move up on the spindle, which will still have resistance. The CD will continue moving out as it moves up on the spindle. When you get the CD far enough out to grasp with a finger, you can use a little more pressure and it will slide out. There may be a better way, but this worked for me. Good luck !! 0
