As the service indicator is based on miles OR days (10-13K miles OR 12months ), it will show 'miles to service' until you're getting close to days remaining, then change to days, depending upon which looks like is going to occur first.
Oh I see. My car sat on a MB dealer's lot for a long period of time. When I picked it up, it was nearly ready (time wise) to change the oil. Since it had only 23 miles on it we waited until November of this year to change it.

Thanks for the info.:tu:

Yes when I first got the car, it was counting down the days (from 365).

When we changed the oil and filter, we reset the MFD (Multi-Function Display?) and it displayed 10K miles rather than days. We figured we had better leave well enough alone. Next year we'll try again.

BTW, here the owner's manual says to change the oil & filter every year or 10K miles whichever come first. Also we only have A & B services. European cars must be different with longer service intervals and other service notations?

Does vary a bit, but in general MB have gone to "A & B" service schedules globally, with additional items added based on a time/mileage schedule.

I'll have to go look, but I thought MB had gone to 15k miles on the oil changes for the non-AMG cars.

EDITED - Clear as mud - naturally - here's the currently posted data :

US Service 3 at every 13,000 miles or 1 year
Engine - oil and filter change

I just changed my oil today thanks to this forum, and reset my service indicator thanks to this thread.

SLK World has already put me money ahead after being a member for two weeks. :)

Very many thanks for this useful post. I spent a happy minute or six this morning 'doing the deed' and can confirm the wisdom of Mustang Sally's (Banned? Pour quoi?) urging to 'rap tap tap' on the Reset button in order to get a response.
I also noted that, on my old girl at least, there is no 'Special Operations' menu item. But a much more prosaic 'Items' statement seems to do the same trick.
There are a few nerve-racking areas in the menu, rather like a 'Here Be Tygers' hemisphere on an ancient map. For instance, what, presuming it's an arcane reference to the battery, does 'UB 12.2v' mean?
In fact I replaced the battery just last week and all seems to be well since I remembered to teach the side windows how high they could jump. to keep the rain out!
Anyway; thanks once again.

So I changed the oil and reset the reminder, didn't list service "c" so I used service "3" now when I pull it up the miles until next service is not available, is this because I just reset it or did I manage to mess it up? Any help would be great!

tough to say. if your car has had a firmware update. mb now uses service A and service B, instead of service numbers. let's see what others say or you could try it again.

Did my first DIY oil change on this car this past weekend. The previous oil change the car was still under CPO warranty so I wanted them to take the opportunity to see what needed to be fixed - glad I did as they noted and fixed a few items I would have missed.

But in general, I prefer to do my own oil changes when the car is out of warranty. They definitely made this one more challenging to reset, but I eventually got it thanks to your postings. Thanks!

On my 2006 SLK350 in the service menu I can cancel Service 1-6. Does anyone know what these 6 services are in the service menu? I've done some work on the car and would like to cancel those.
