Hi, just wanted to know how much HP can a stock SLK 55 AMG engine handle?? what is the limitation of the internals? what material is the pistons (forged??), crank (forged??), connecting rods, and the engine block it's self???????? Thank you all in advance.

The engine should be able to handle a lot, from my understanding, the M155 in the SLR is basically just an M113 with a HUGE supercharger attached. The weak link with the SLK is the 7 speed, Mercedes never used it in their more powerful cars like the SL55 because it supposedly couldn't handle the torque long term.

Well, that's not quite the case. Completely redesigned lubrication system, different pistons, rods, and cams, different injection system, exhaust, etc.... The SLR's M113 is a lot closer to the one they use in the E55's, but there's still a load of "special" parts. Don't forget Brabus managed to get over 660 out of an SLR, and they admitted to changing the cams, fuel cooling system, and exhaust to do that.

That said - I have little doubt you could get 500hp out of the M113 that's in the SLR. Just not sure how long it would last. The "oldest" Kleemann SLk I know of just turned 23k miles, and he was running 425ish.

From what I have :
M113 Block : aluminum
Cylinder Heads : aluminum SOHC, 2 spark plugs & 3 valves per cylinder
Cylinder Lining : silicon/aluminum
Rods : fracture-split forged steel
Intake : magnesium intake manifold

Highest "factory" HP - outside special production (SLR ), 2008 SL55 AMG M113.990 at 515hp. Special production, M113.980 producing 66hp.

I was just at a Kleemann authorized installers shop yesterday getting some information first hand. I just recently met member Deeps03 and actually drove his car, I was told yesterday it's pushing 560 and Kleemann said there is still lots that can be done.

I'm a little confused with the 560 mentioned after reviewing Kleemann information, can someone clarify

Kleemann work:

Kompressor
Headers
ECU
LSD

So by adding the above Kompressor + Headers + ECU what are the specs.

Hi Guys,

I do have some kleemann work done to my car. It is strange because in some brochures, kleemann states that the car with stage 4 has approx 600hp in others, they say 500hp. Mine currently has anywhere from 560-580 hp as i do not have the cams. I just had my car on the dyno and this proved to be accurate with the dyno (considering the loss to the wheels vs to the flywheel).

Kleemann states the parts power individually. Meaning that i.e. header will give you 20hp and exhaust will give you 15hp which means total 35hp right? wrong....with the combo, you actually gain approx 40-45hp as the two parts work much better together. Kleemann states hp that "anyone" can get just installing each indiviual part.

There is an SLK that has all the internals done (kleemann) and is running 690hp to the wheels which is approx 850hp to the flywheel.

The V8 motor is capable of high power. I would suggest to go with a stage 4 kleemann kit. Plenty of Power with everyday reliablity. I am enjoying mine and honestly feel that it was money worth spending.
