I am interested in joining your trip dependent on dates.
You're more than welcome to join us for this. It'll be the weekend Friday 21st to Monday 24th April. Three nights in Pitlochry, two days (I'm in the process of planning) touring the area. I think there may well be some forum members who are adding an extra day or two to that as well.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. I've lived up here for the last 36 years and have driven virtually all the roads from Glasgow / Edinburgh northwards. It really is a beautiful country, any time of year.

Dave, I did scan the thread, but I cant see the proposed drives, can you point me to them ?
Pitlochry is nice enough, but its stuffed with tourists and its on the A9 with all the Specs cameras.

I have looked at the North Coast 500 - Home as a possible trip.

Have you been over Bealach ?

I worked in the Highlands 30+ years ago so know them fairly well.

Part of Davie's master plan :tu:

Imagine how Scotland's sales for quick detailer would have soared!>:D
Not too many midgies, but there are always early risers! :D

As for detailling spray sales, I think they'll probably soar anyway seeing Mabel's condition after my last trip (in the dry!!) round the back lanes. :surprise:

A reminder ........

And now Russj and Chris have let me know about this thread, myself and Janet would like to attend, although will probably make a few more days of it... with the drive sandwiched in the middle :)

As others have said, there are some great places in Scotland, we did a 2 week holiday in the SLK driving up the West side, we did Applecross, was great :) then across to Inverness and down the East past Blair Atholl and to Edinburgh..., we managed over 1000miles roof down from Kent to Applecross > Inverness until the heavans opened at Aviemore, so it doesn't always rain in Scotland :)

Anyway, put our names down, and I'll start investigating a room and locations..

Cheers

As we are coming from Ireland we intend to make a holiday of it, dont know yet if the meet will be at the start or end. Will have to wait and see, may call into Edinburgh heard its nice
Beautiful city to visit and lots to see and do but driving and or parking is an absolute nightmare I'm afraid. Best to stay on edge of city and bus or train in.Most of the main sights are easily walkable in the centre of town.

Too true.

We had the advantage of a blue badge, no major festival and it still took time to find a parking spot.

But it is well worth the effort.

A trip to Queensferry is worth it too.
Great view and plenty of scoff, from cheap and cheerful Ferry Tap to the multiple Italian gaffs nearby.

I have received an e-mail back from Valerie Kerr at The Pine Trees Hotel .....

"Thank you for this information and we are happy to offer you the following accommodation for the 21st to 24th April 2017:-

4 x superior double rooms @ ÂŁ422.00 per room Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights
2 x superior twin rooms @ ÂŁ422.00 per room Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights
2 x double rooms for single occupancy @ ÂŁ270.00 Bed & Breakfast per room for 3 nights

The above totals ÂŁ3072.00

We will apply a 10% discount bringing the total to ÂŁ2764.80

We would require a 10% deposit on booking and 3 weeks notice of any cancellation."

Apart from the fact she thinks I'm booking and paying for these rooms as a block :surprise::surprise::surprise: (I probably didn't explain the requirements clearly enough) , I don't believe this to be a particularly good deal as she has only offered her "superior" rooms and not included the standard ones (which are available), it also requires a deposit and a lot of notice to cancel.
Upon checking a comparison website I found I could book a single room, and the superior double rooms, cheaper, with no deposit, and only 1 days cancellation notice.

Therefore, although I would still recommend this hotel, I would advise members that messaged me with their requirements to look for a room on a hotels comparison website to obtain the best price.

I would also advise them, where ever they choose, to book earlier rather than later to make sure of getting the hotel of their choice. Pitlochry is a very popular destination.

Thanks Davie, I had provisionally booked Carra Beag Guest house where Col suggested. Superior double at ÂŁ222 3 nights B&B, I will now stick with that. :tu:
Snap. I've booked there too.

It was the same price for 2 staying as for 1, so I've booked for 2 in the hope that I'll either find someone to bring along or get lucky when I get there!

or I could just eat 2 breakfasts......

So have we!!! No superior doubles left, so we have booked the triple room (as a double, so ÂŁ200.25). How about we all pile into one car and split the fuel cost...Errr, no, wait....
