Hello,
I just completed my installation of a backup camera using the detailed installation guides provided on this forum. I'm having a couple of problems and some questions I'm hoping someone can help with.
1. After installing the camera, I'm getting a black and white display on the monitor. I know it is a color camera as I tested it before hooking up to the vehicle on a color monitor in my home. Any ideas why the display would be B&W? The navigation screen is in color, so I know the monitor does display color.
2. When I place the vehicle in reverse, I see the camera, but a large amount of the screen is lost to the top and bottom headers shown on the display. On the top is the message "Check your surroundings" which obscures the top of the image. On the bottom is the display with the words "Back" which covers the bottom of the display. With these two areas covering the camera display, there is not much left to see. Can these be turned off?
3. I was a bit confused when installing the Fakra to RCA cable converter which I purchased from Ebay. What i got looked exactly what was pictured in the installation guide. However, the connector was not directly compatible with what I had on the back of the camera. The existing plug had two connections (one was vacant) and was not really certain what I should do. In the end, I remove the plastic connector on the end of the Fakra cable I purchased and then just directly plugged in the metal connector into the second port on the back of the radio. Is this the correct action to take? The instructions were not clear on this point.
4. I found in several cases, it was much easier to take some off, but rather difficult to put it back together. For example, I had a very difficult time putting the roll bar cover back on again. Seemed like a special technique/trick was needed.
5. Interestingly, I could not figure out how to remove the connectors from the side and rear speakers. Seemed like they should have been the simplest. Ultimately, I did not disconnect them as instructed but had to be very careful keeping them in place. Any trick to removing these connectors?
thanks,
