Couple of questions on PSE pump

Today is the day I decided to remove the PSE pump and give the circuit board a clean in a last ditch effort to stop the alarm from randomly triggering before buying a replacement part.

However, as soon as I removed one of the connectors it instantly triggered the alarm and i was curious if that had any meaning?

Also, I have gently be trying to remove the hose lines but they don't seen to move, I guess there is some certain method needed to remove then without causing damage, any tip would be appreciated. Thanks!

i've been able to remove the hose line now, just need to know if the alarm going off immediately after removing connector means anything much?

As far as I can see, the circuit board looks in really good shape, I could not see any fluids or corrosion, I've cleaned it with circuit board cleaner and dried, putting it back in and hoping for the best.

Thanks for the tip, I'll search the site and look into the IMS as I don't even know the location of it in my car :surprise:

I doubt it is the cause mind you, simply based on the fact that the car can sit for days and not make a peep. However, when I take it for a drive out and park and lock the doors it's like Russian roulette if the alarm will sound. Sometimes it can trigger 10 times an hour, other times it can be several days before throwing a fit.

Hi,

Re Battery Maintainer, search for "Opti-Mate"

Fingers crossed there is some more things I can try to locate the reason why the alarm is triggering itself. Here's a list of things I replaced that did not resolve the issue of random alarm triggering.

1. Alarm
2. Microswitches in both doors
3. New AGM battery
4. PSE Pump

If there are any other parts missed that might be worth a short please let me know, about to go insane tracing this issue. TIA.

It was new.

I've decided to bit the bullet and take to the local MB dealership for a scan to trace the problem. However, in a last ditch effort I wiggled the wires around the PSE pump and reset the alarm 1 hr ago and so far so good, its not triggered. I also just disarmed and rearmed 5 minutes ago and still working ok. I have a sneaky feeling that there is a short in one of the wires around the PSE pump.

Still going to go for the scan and will update, hopefully I can save just one person from going though this hell. TIA.

The dealers just called and said the incline sensor is bad causing the alarm to trigger. They quoted over $800 to install a new one. I’ve looked on Google but not found a part called ‘SLK230 incline sensor’.
Anyone got experience with changing this part out and the cost?

TIA

Try looking up the part yourself and searching based on part number.

Really useful links (thanks to ixions cataloguing)

@Dave2302 can you advise.

Hi,

Yes I think they are saying that it is one of the 2 Pitch or Yaw Acceleration Sensors under the Centre Console.

To replace these you need SDS as they must be Calibrated once fitted.

Thing is this though I would expect an ABS /ESP light on if they were a problem, hmm maybe, maybe not.
I've had to change these Sensors due to ABS / ESP issues on several R170's , and the Alarm Triggering has not been an issue

I would really need to diagnose this myself on SDS which of course is not gonna happen due to locations.

If the Car has the "Tow Away" Switch on the Centre Console \/ \/ \/ , the best thing to try is switch that off, (Owners Manual refers to the procedure), then if Alarm stops triggering it is likely they are correct ;)

I'm sorry but that's all I got right now ;)

Thanks for the reply, I think the dealer was referring to the white box module located in the truck. He said he would text me the part number so I can locate and install myself but at this point i've not received it. I have found new ones online for $150.00 and used ones on eBay around $40.00 or so. I plan on getting and installing myself, then one more trip to the dealer to get it programmed, which they quoted $180.00.

Hi,

You have to remember that the Dealers are 120 - 150 per hour and all parts are charged at full retail price ;)

Can you please post a Photo of the "White Box Module" showing it's location, and is your Car a pre-facelift ?????

I have certainly not seen a "White Box Module" in the Post Facelifts, not that I've ever looked for one ;)

Hi,

That's certainly not the ones I was on about, so great news, get a good used one of EBay, and give it a shot ;)

I doubt that needs Calibration ;)

Now that's something new I've learned today, so thank you (y)
Next time I have my Trunk to bits, I will check the Post Facelift Car, as I always thought they sensed Motion with the G Sensors, but it seems perhaps not ;)

I still waiting for the dealership to confirm this is the part they were talking about when I picked up the car. They did not include the diagnosis on the invoice, so I asked him to forward me the part number. I'll contact him again on Monday if not received by then.

It amazes me that almost all of these MB Dealerships get away with not giving a Print Out of SDS Sessions, I always do, IMHO that is what you are paying for ...................

Just had a look in the trunk and located the anti theft module it basically sits directly to the right of the PSE pump. I'm fairly sure that I'm going to have to remove the plastic panel to gain access, but I my fingers crossed someone has a shortcut to replace the module with removing the whole panel. TIA.

UPDATE: I gently lifted the plastic panels that met in the corner near the trunk opening and passenger side and I was able to visually see the bolt that holds the mount in place, there is no need to remove the complete left side panel to gain access.

Hi,

It takes less than 5 minutes to remove the Panel ;)

Might take you 5 mins to remove, not me. :)

Going to order a used module off eBay today and fingers crossed have it installed by weekend, I did find out something else last night, I just touch the module in the car and it seems to trigger the alarm, maybe it is supposed to trigger when wiggled about? Anyway, I will update this thread after I receive the new module and install.

Small update, I installed the replacement anti-thief module three days ago. I've not driven the car as of yet but on three different occasions I've locked/unlocked the doors and manually opened and closed the hood/trunk/doors to try and trigger the alarm. So far so good, no false triggers.

Also, the dealer did confirm that I did not need to have the module reprogrammed. I'll take the car out on Sunday and report back in if the alarm triggers after driving.
