Got mine from CKS about 5 years ago. I thought they were bloomin expensive ÂŁ65 at the time but they have worn well and never fallen off. They have specific lugs to ensure they fit in the correct order.

The R171 bonnet fins do have lugs as I bought a set for my 2010 SLK350. The R172 Bonnet Fins do not have these lugs and need to be stuck on either with 3M double sided tape or glue. I chose the Tiger seal UPOL glue.

My are CKS ones and although I was a bit concerned they might come off I stuck them using the supplied 3m tape. I tried pulling one off but they are stuck firm. They have been on for 16 months now and are still stuck firm despite me washing the car weekly.
Just make sure you get them in the right place (they are handed) before pulling the protection off the tape and sticking them on.

See here for problems putting the fins on in the wrong order...

I got mine from CKS and they look awesome on my Hyacinth Red SLC43
I used the tape that came with them and they are solid

Thanks for the tip,
I have just opened the box and was hoping they would be identified LHS & RHS but they are not, I take it when members say they are handed they refer to keeping them in the order they came in , ie the 3 on the left must remain together and the 3 on the right must stay together?

Hi All,
Just wondering if anybody has brought a set of chrome fins for the bonnet, if so where from.

I have seen these on Ebay UK STOCK Set CHROME Bonnet Grill Fins Hood Vent Trims for Mercedes R172 SLK SLC | eBay
But in all honesty I try not to purchase from Ebay (Cheap rubbish) I would much rather spend a little bit extra and get quality.
Regards
Sunny
I purchased genuine ones from MB for my R172. They came in a little kit with cleaner, sandpaper and glue. 100% perfect fit. Some (if not all) of the non MB units are stuck on with double sided tape and don't fit as well as the MB stuff. No masking tape etc needed and the covers are marked for correct positioning.

I was very happy with the look and the chrome was still perfect after 3 years asa daily driver.
