Hello again everyone.

Now that I've finally taken delivery of my '05 Capri Blue SLK 350, today I find out the *real* color I was after was actually not Capri Blue or even Caspian Blue, but it was actually Orion Blue.

I found an '09 Orion Blue SLK 300 on a MB Dealer lot today, and finally saw the color I thought was Capri Blue. Oh well. I suppose I'll learn to like the Capri blue.

HenryHank....

Glad you said that, because I was getting confused with all the "Blues". I have an Orion Blue SLK 350 (Canadian). I think it's called Jasper Blue in Europe, but based on your comment I'm guessing it's neither the same colour as Capri Blue or Caspian Blue in the U.S., but a different colour?

Odd they would have three different shades of blue, all fairly close. (at least hard to see in pictures).

I quite like the Orion blue of my car.

Cheers!

Don't even get started on "silvers" - MB must have dozens of different hues on that one LOL!

People say it has three colours.

Black at night, Blue when there is light and Green where direct sunlight is.

Once i park under a tree where there are rays of sunlight and where the rays shine on there are spots of green with blue overall:biglaugh:

The Benitoit (Caspian in the USA) blue is very interesting. I saw one at a Mercedes test day in 2004 and I thought they had changed cars between the morning and afternoon sessions. Nope, same car in different lighting. I've never seen an SLK with 7G-Tronic on the rear. Did you add that?

well, for our Mercedes every V6 engine(with the gearbox of cos) gets the 7g-tronic badges on it....

I'm loving this interior, whats the name of it and have you any more pic's?

And you can compare to my Black/Ash two tone with Caspian:

Sorry for the tiny crappy pics, they're from my cell phone when I went to look the first day it came to the dealer...

Here is my 06 SLK55 in Capri blue. Depending on the time of day, weather and location...it can look black or deep purple. I've had people tell me that they didn't realize it was blue until they get up close to the car. I bought it almost as as soon as I found it, because it was the color I wanted and I don't see too many in SLKs in blue.

We're going to have to get yours and Rick's next to each other (Go ATL 55s) because I'm sure his is Caspian Blue "I think". We'll get side by side pics!

I'm very sorry I wish I had replied to your post LONG ago when you had asked me if my car was caspian or capri blue. Someone else had replied it was Caspian when in fact, like Dang's is Orion Blue. Later on here in Canada it was disco'd and replaced with Jasper Blue (similar). Now both colours have been discontinued and have lead me to order the Designo Mauritius Blue. I can't wait to see how it turns out in real life because I don't think I've ever seen one yet on the road.

I think the Caspian/Capri are a little dark for my taste. I LOVE the Orion/Jasper Blue and I hope that I will LOVE the Mauritius Blue even more (considering it costs a chunk of money for Designo stuff). Will post pics when it arrives in a couple months. Even the interior is a nicer blue than my current Turquoishy one!!

Hi Kelvin,
Thanks for your post. The Capri Blue is OK... I'm not loving it though. The 350 I got is also an automatic, which I thought I'd be able to handle, but after driving it for a year, I'm not to thrilled with it and wish I had held out for an manual. So between the color being a REALLY dark blue and an automatic, the car is just "OK" overall. Sure, it's fun and all, and serves the purpose, but not exactly what I was looking for.
If the color was what I *thought* I was getting, OR the trans was manual, I'd be able to live with it and enjoy it much more and overlook one or the other, but it's hard to overlook both.

I have my eyes set on the new BMW Z4 hardtop convo... so I'll keep the SLK for another two years until those start to come off lease, then it's gone. ;)

It's really very strange you bumped this thread today...

Just today I decided to sell my '05 Caspian Blue SLK 350, as per my post just above:

The '09 Z4s are just now coming off lease and it's a good time to buy... the question is, is anyone buying '05 SLKs?

I got an E-mail today from Mercedes Benz there were 2899 Caspian Blue SLK 280's sold in the the USA for the 2008 model year.

Old thread but I thought I'd open it up again.

How's this for an unusual blue - Designo Mauritius Blue 039
Beautiful, at first I thought it was Orion but it's lighter, great looking color, very unique.
