Car wash?

Hi

I have an SLK200 and have always washed my car by hand using the local hand jet wash. However, it is closed.

My previous car was an MX5 and I could not take this through a car wash. So I have got used to washing my car by hand for years.

Is it safe to take an SLK200 through a carwash? I am a bit nervous in case water gets in as its a convertible. Plus, I have issues with water getting in the boot which has screwed up the rear SAM :(

Thanks

Done it once (note, removing aerial means using the key if you lock doors & put in N whilst being pulled through without handbrake).
If you suffer leaks, I'd avoid.
Jet wash can be abandoned, car wash you are stuck.

Our detailers will scream 'No' as there is a risk of getting swirl marks on the paintwork.

Have a read on the 2 bucket method.
That is not a lot more effort than jet wash and you have even more control and no added pressured water stream.

Have no fear with a touch less or hand wash car detailing service. The SLK will drive through without any issues, unless you already have a roof leak. MX5 vs SLK, puleaze!!!

I got one of those liquid free spray and wipe cleaners and I just do that from time to time and it works great (not cheap for the mcquires). I would NEVER EVER take my car through a car wash of any kind except the one where you hold the hose. even then those brushes scratch, stay very dirty. Its really not worth it. There is this new thing which is a sprayer that you put the hose end into a bucket of water. would be useful to me as my hose is far away at the house. so my routine is a spray and wipe about once every 2 weeks gets the dust off, a hose off and suds and hose off about once every 2-3 months as needed. and then maybe once a year get it properly waxed and detailed which will make it so much easier to clean off.
