Hello All.... HELP!!
I have a waning message come up on my centre message screen telling me two things....

(1) ESP unavailable Diagn./Rig test
(2) BAS unavailable Diagn. Rig test..

I believe these messages are self inflicted (through my own stupidity)... I was checking an EWL this morning caused by a air intake temp sensor fault which I cleared... I then decided to not leave well alone and ran a complete ISS diagnostic check and 1 fault came up which was on the ABS breaking system... fault unknown intermittent.

Instead of just clearing this fault I moved on to next screen for running tests on the particular system and initiated the ESP road test. waited for the message... ESPMK25 Road test active and switched off the ignition as instructed and then switched back on after 5 seconds... the same result screen came back now saying...

ESP... ESPMK25 Road test active intermittent C1410.

I instructed the OBD to clear all faults. it said that it was now cleared, however when I start the car / run the engine.. my dash tells me the two messages at the top of my essay... HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS????

A few pics of my problem attached...

Ungently Awaiting your immense intelligence...

Dave :frown:

I will try that.. as there was also a message in amongst all of this about re-calibrate steering... Engine running vehicle in park and turn steering lock to lock... I would imagine....???/...

Thanks for the tip, I will let you know.. Tried it without connecting OBD & Lap top.. didn't help.. i will try again a bit later with OBD & Laptop all plugged in and see.. I might be lucky??

Good Morning All... My Issue is resolved!! I traced the MB Star Bulletin T-B-42.45/99 ESP Road Test Procedure. which confirms that I had initiated the "road test" procedure with my OBD, and the lights on the dash wanted.... a road test.. and , it is very simple to rectify.. Find the nearest empty parking lot.. switch off the car with GB in park and steering pointing straight, HB on.

1.Start car and press ESP switch on dash to illuminate triangle on display.
, within 15 seconds,
2.Release HB and move GB to D, drive car forward @ +/- 6mph for a few yards, then immediately turn left completing a 1/4 - 1/2 circle,
3. Immediately turn car to the right completing a 1/4 - 1/2 circle

The ESP / BAS Waring light will go out on the dash should the test be successful...... mine was.. switch off the car.. then re-start and carry on with a very big smile on your dial without anything glaring at you from the dash board telling you that you are an idiot and to STOP FIDDLING with stuff that ain't broken..

Thanks all, Time for a car wash and a ride out to the family this afternoon - Sun's out - top will be down!!

As an engineer, two sayings come to mind... “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it”
And
“if you fiddle with something long enough, you can fix anything” :)

Good to hear you’ve learnt from the first and applied the second!
Mike.
