Yes, Robert was one quality fella!
When it was just Robert and me planning the future direction of the company, we were nothing more than a couple of guys kicking around ideas of where we could take this idea.
We had many long distance calls concerning many aspects of the company. We spent many hours planning the future of the company, building websites, searching for the perfect name to represent the company, which companies to mold and etch the windcreens.
With Robert working in Dallas and me working in Houston, it made it difficult for us to combine our talents. Robert had decided to quite his job and devote 100% of his time to the company. I already had an 15 year career in the Airline industry and was not willing to quit that and move my family to Dallas. So Robert took control of it.
Robert said he had many Doctor friends that would give him the funds needed to start the company but Robert wanted to do it without oustide backing.
It was difficult at first to find quality manufacturing that would deliver the windscreens without scratches already on them from the factory so delivery time was slow in the beginning. Nothing but the best was to be sent out to the customer. Many times windscreens had to be re-oredered until a perfect piece could be shipped.
With my Glass etching background I had etched and lit a few car windows for car shows in my spare time. Robert thought my idea of lighting the Etched windscreens would be a great idea! It would be a great way for customers to express themselves and thier cars with custom designs. My windscreen in my SLK was the first to be lighted!
Over time, with Robert in and out of the Hospital, Robert and I talked less and less. Sadly Robert passed away. Thankfully Roberts Family rallied to keep the company alive in Robert's memory and today have a thriving business! Robert would be VERY PROUD of them all!
It was an honor for me to be a part of Robert's life and the start of the company! I wish much success to them all.
