Should I get a WindRestrictor® for my SLK?

I'm sure you see me on here going on and on about how great our product is, how great it looks, and how much we love our customers. I know our approach is SO different. Here I'd like to give a little proof behind all of my statements and give solid answers to any questions you may have had concerning us and our mods.

We've been in business for ten years now based on the innovations of our founder Robert Pennington. Rob wanted a wind blocker that did it's job, and looked great doing it. After hours of design and marketing the WindRestrictor® was brought to the masses. Even though Rob had great vision, I'm not sure he imagined it would take off the way it has!

We've shipped to every corner of every inhabited continent. I've personally sat down and had to rewrite a shipping label in Russian ( that was fun ) . If it can be delivered there, we've probably shipped it there. Our goal is to grow, but never too big to meet the needs of our customers on a personal level.

What gets us from Egypt to Australia is the tremendous quality we demand every time a box is stamped and addressed from us to you. We're the strongest, most durable wind blocker on the market today. Feel free to compare us to other brands that will yellow, scratch easily or bend effortlessly.

Our bracket engineering is specifically produced to keep your WindRestrictor in place without shaking or rattling. Your ability to talk on your phone or hear your radio will be greatly improved. Not to mention, it helps do what it says it does. Restrict wind. Snugly in place, we'll block up to 50% of any and all back draft coming into your convertible's cabin.

The design is the part that most people notice immediately. Eight different bright lights illuminating one of our graphics or one of yours. The ability to be unique with our modification is far beyond what you can begin to even attempt with most for your fine vehicle. If this isn't enough we have several fabulous accessories. From on/off switches to Electric Light Kits that cycle through all of our colors. All of this with a shape that won't clash with your 170, 171, or 172. You can also go with a more simple look. We have tinted or you can feel free to go with no illumination or graphics.

Did I mention our lifetime warranty? We hope this deletes any doubts you may have about our WindRestrictors®. Literally putting our money where our mouth is. Please, consider our products and services when looking to upgrade your beautiful SLK. If you have any further questions or concerns please private message or contact me at [email protected] or [email protected] . Thank you!

Something that I don't do lightly is to recommend a product, but, if you are thinking of getting a wind blocker, I highly recommend you look at getting one from these guys. They really do provide a top quality product. They also provide a good service if you want a custom version, excellent communication means they will not proceed until you are totally happy with the design. If you check out their gallery, you will be amazed at some of the designs they have produced.

I bought mine from them, and although a simple design, they still made sure everything was as I wanted. I'm totally satisfied with it, and still smile every time I see it in the mirror.

You can check it out in posts #6 and 18 here ..... https://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-gen...457-mabel.html

Other than sportswise, I have only ever won one competition in my life and I was lucky enough that it was the ROTM competition on one of the ocasions Windrestrictor generously sponsered it.

The Windrestrictor product is definately way out in front of similar products in terms of quality, design and finish and I speak from experience as I have personally had other products in my hands !

I can honestly say that if anyone is thinking of buying one (we can't all win them for free, jeje) that they won't be dissapointed with either the quality of the product nor the quality of the customer service from the guys at Windrestrictor, both are first class !!

Windrestrictor Tested

I purchased a Windrestrictor for my R172 late last year, but it took me until just before Christmas to get it fitted.

The instructions were simple and clear and as long as you read them well before hand and make sure that you have all of the necessary tools its a very easy job.

I bought the lighting kit as well, but only installed the battery pack option - I found that this sits nicely in the pouch below the screen with a minimal amount of cable showing.

Due to inclement weather since fitting, it was only this last weekend that I finally got to test the deflector with the roof down. It did the job well.

The build quality is good. My only gripe is that I had to pay a chunky import duty. Otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Though We don't have a "Windrestrictor" in our R171, I did take out the MB supplied Wind Restrictor, when the car was due to go in for some warranty roof adjustment work...

So My route home from work includes 4.5 miles of Motorway (at 70 mph of course!) Well.... now I understand why people in open top cars drive around (In the UK) with the roof up all the time...!!

These are a must have accessory and either You get the MB dealer to throw one in for free at the point of purchase, or consider a "Windrestrictor".

Get one for Your SLK now, before summer returns

Has anyone noticed a glare when driving at night. I am contemplating purchasing one of these. My night vision is not the best and any type of glare (even the slightest) would be a problem for me. I plan on getting the plain, clear windrestrictor.

I just responded in the other thread you created to ask this...
I need a windrestrictor badly but...

Bottom line is that , no, I do not notice any glare at night, as it's angled slightly which avoids glare from oncoming headlights.

For those of us that are challenged in the hair follicle department (BALD), the cap stops sunburn from happening.
I don't like putting SPF 10000 on my pate.

I can't comment on the R171 version but there is a strong reflection of the interior lights on R172 version. I tuned it out pretty quickly and I no longer find it an issue.

This isn't glare as such, however seeing the instrument and centre console lighting dancing about in the rear view mirror could be upsetting. That said, it's no worse than being followed by a car with well-adjusted headlamps so you should be fine.

Silkmover is from north Lancashire where they invented the mechanical clock because sun dials didn't work....

I also wear a baseball cap because otherwise I find the sun visors inadequate.

And a snood quite often as well because even with Airscarf I find my neck gets cold on the motorway with the roof down.
