Thumbs down getmercedesparts

I wanted to post a negative vote for getmercedesparts.com so others are aware of the potential issues you may have with them. I've used them several times in the past and I found their prices lower and turn around times pretty good. Up until recently I had been very satisfied.

It may be that they have a new person running the on-line business for Mercedes of Annapolis, but the guy who says he is in charge of the on-line business never follows up like he says he will and when you call back, he offers one excuse after another. At one point I asked the receptionist to direct me to the manager overseeing that area and she didn't call back either. For me, it just reinforces a negative reflection of the entire Mercedes of Annapolis dealership.

To give this some context, my issue started when I ordered several parts recently. A couple of these being the rear window trim covers that I replaced. These are fairly fragile and on the first shipment, they put them in a box with other heavier items but didn't take enough care to properly protect everything. The items shifted during shipping and one of the trim pieces was cracked. After shipping it back, several calls to inquire, and three weeks, the replacement arrived, only to be cracked as well. While they can't control what happens during shipping, they could take more care in how they package their parts. At this point I decided just to go over to my local dealer and pick up the part (lesson learned).

BTW, I did return the second damaged part with their promise to give me a credit, but three weeks later and I still haven't received the credit. All in all, due to their lack of attention to detail, extremely poor customer service, and failure to provide reasonable follow up, getmercedesparts.com and Mercedes of Annapolis get two thumbs down.

Sorry to hear about your problems with them.
I've ordered quite a bit of parts and accessories in the past from them with few problems other than slow deliveries due to them having to order most of the parts since they are not in stock.
I have found that calling them is futile and I just rely on their site's messaging system which is very basic to say the least.
But this is much the same experience I have ordering car parts online in general.

Bad service from someone who doesn't care. How did you pay? Credit cards are best. Just about able to get a refund regardless of reason.

I've noticed the same sort of degradation of service and service quality from a couple of the online parts houses as well over the last year or so..

My speculation is that the general crack down on cross border parts ordering has given them more of a captive market - as an example, my supplier in Germany can no longer ship parts to me in the US or UK - fortunately I still have a address in Germany, but it's an extra hassle, etc that makes it less than worthwhile.

I've only had one experience with getmercedesparts.com, but so far, I'm not too happy. I ordered the lower door hinge from them almost 3 weeks ago. I thought it was a great deal, they had a much better price than my local MB shop. But its been 3 weeks and it has not shipped. I emailed them with no reply. Finally, on Friday I called, got a really nice guy on the phone, he said he had seen my part come in and that it would go out on Friday, and that I would have it by Wednesday (which would be nice, as I was hoping to make the repair during my time off over the 4th). But as of yet, no email notification of a shipment...so we'll see.

I've seen several delays and had to call them on two orders -- they just weren't very responsive. Several other online sites are also associated with dealers, their inventory isn't very impressive and they don't seem to be motivated to keep up with modern expectations for online retailers. I guess if you want genuine MB you have to buy from a dealer though.

Excatly. The guy is always very nice on the phone, just doesn't seem to be too quick at following through.

I've placed three orders recently at mymercedesparts.com (Mercedes Benz of South Atlanta) and all shipped the same day. On the first order, they called me to make technical recommendations!

I am impressed -- they definitely get my vote and my business going forward.

I too have had nothing but great support from their online parts department.

I buy all of my parts from MB of Atlanta and for the Northwest SLK club. All of the guys there, via email and phone, are outstanding. I've probably made 60+ orders there without at hitch.

Thanks for the feedback on mymercedesparts.com - I may give them a try in the future.

Just to wrap up the thread on getmercedesparts.com - they never did issue me the refund for the returned part until I called him back 3 weeks later. Same story, left message, no return call, called back and he acted dumb "I thought I had already credited that - I'll take care of it right now." A week later I did finally see the refund come through so I'm happy I can close the book with them. No more ordering from getmercedesparts.com for me.

Wow…I spent 5 hours last night trying to find a good price on the left and right hand exterior mirror turn signal indicators as both have small cracks in them. I gave up shortly after 1am. I went to mymercedesparts.com and wammo, best price I could find by about 35% ($38.60 ea) and in stock and shipped out today!

Thanks for providing them as a reference. I have bookmarked the website for future orders!

So 2 weeks ago I ordered my ///AMG Tinted Third Brake Light from getmercedesparts.com. Part number is 1718200556. At the time of order in the "comments" section of the order, I specifically put "MAKE SURE THIS IS THE AMG TINTED VERSION OF THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT" because I remember reading a post from UK-C200 that he had ordered the same item but received the "Standard" red version of the Third Brake Light (which is part number 1718200056).

Well, I bet you can guess what I just received. That's right, the same thing that I already have on my car. Time and motion? What a waste.

So, I just sent them off an email, of course they are on the opposite coast so they were closed by the time I received my shipment. Let's see how quickly they respond.

Update: Just got off the phone with getmercedesparts.com and they apologized for the error, they told me the person who orders the parts has "been a bit frazzled lately" as he just had a baby and he probably ordered the wrong part. They will re-order today and it should be in by Friday. This time they will check it before it is sent. I asked if they could expedite shipping to me this time and they said that they would. I did not get the gentlemen's name but asked if he could send me an email to the effects of our conversation. He said he would.

So, everyone makes mistakes. Let's see how well GMP.com handles theirs.

Will report further as this process continues.

I have spent a lot of money (to me) with them over the years.

My factory painted R171 spoiler came from there too.

The problem is Shawn is no longer there. He previously did the online orders. He was a bit slow to reply to emails, but he would truly work with you, albeit slightly slowly. He would find you things, work on the prices, etc. I never used the website when Shawn was there, I would fax him my orders.

Now Shawn is gone and you pretty much don't get responses to emails.

Now the site itself is pretty much the only source to order from. For some simple items, they still seem pretty good. I got my oil filter wrench and some different filters fine the other week.

They just aren't quite the simple go to choice they were previously.

I will try the other recommendations here as well.

I just called www.getmercedesparts.com about the Tinted Third Brake Light. Just wanted to make sure they received it as they should have per our last conversation.

I spoke with the Asst. Manager who's name is Tommy. He said that it was too late to ship today but it would go overnight via UPS to me on Monday.

We talked a little bit about "Reputation Management" during these times of e-commerce and the negative reviews here on this forum. He assured me that it is their intent (www.getmercedesparts.com AKA Mercedes Benz of Annapolis) to make sure that all their customers are happy with both product and service.
Their website is receiving approx. 60,000 hits per month and they are proud of what they have built and the fact that they have many happy customers. He asked me to post on this thread the following:

"If you ever have a problem with the product you received or any lack of communication, please call 1-866-553-7463 and ask for TOMMY"!

IMHO, to go to the expense of sending this part overnight exceeds my expectations. Just thought that I would let you all know.

FYI, the same part at a local M.B. Dealer here in the bay area was over $225.00 vs. $150.00 with them, so their prices are really good.

Having dealt with both while trying to maintain the 99 SLK, I have had excellent results with mymercedesparts.com. I am sorry to say that the other source was not neither cheaper nor as customer friendly.

I have also begun using mymercedesparts.com with very good results. Their prices are slightly better than getmercedeparts.com and they ship much better.
