Service book

Hi All

Happy new year and all that jazz,

So cut a very long story short, I have lost my service book.

I only bought the car a few months ago and all the servicing was done by the chap who i bought the car from etc etc

Is there anywhere i can buy a replacement from as i had a look on ebay etc buy to no avail ?

Any help most welcome,

Luckily the car has only 2 owners and 50K on the clock so not a massive task retracing the history im guessing ?

any help most most welcome !

thanks

All is not lost. Now you can get the car's MOT history which will show the mileage on the car, which most buyers are worried about, from the first time it had to have a MOT.
https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle
The car will also be on the Mercedes computer so if in its early days it was serviced by Mercedes they will have the records of the services.

hi all

so it turns out you can get a service book from MB

Takes a few days to order from Germany and only costs £20

they are also going to stamp it in what servicing has been done there too !
which is a huge sign of relief, if i get a Part No for it ill update this part of the thread

Hi tezpellet,

I have my SLK since last week and the service book isn't the MB one, also It has only one registry on it from a dealer with 59,000 miles (now it has 68,000 and I have to do the service C)

I would like to get as much information as I can from the past.

I checked on Mercedes-Benz UK - Servicing - Digital Service Report

It says:
Lost Your History?
Your vehicle’s service history is documented in our secure central database. If you mislay your personal digital service print out, we can check and re-print your service history for you, or if required, we can quickly check to see whether your vehicle’s warranty terms still apply.

I will call them and update the info

cheers!

Hi Lasry,

this is all great info thanks

one thing is, when i the duplicate bok a few weeks back and then discoveringing it was the wrong wrong one, they did have a record of 2 x services at MB Bedford, i did ask if they could stamp the book or just print off the records of what had been done, and true enough they supplied me with 2 x print off's of the work done for free.

i have also asked a couple more MB servies centres in and around london and they have been more than happy to stamp my new book, at no cost as as long as i have the log book with me some id.

so what is the book you service book you have ?

the link you sent is great reference, many thanks for that.

i also have been told the proper r171 service book is part number 169 584 21 93

The book I have is a generic one, It's not the MB service book. It has just one stamp 10,000 miles ago from the previous dealer who has the car (not the dealer I bought the car from) I can upload a picture this eve

The first MB retailer I called (in Brentford) they told me they haven't any information but they gave me the retailer in which my car was originally sold (Edgware road).
I phoned Edgware Road and they gave me just the service book's price (+£40) and they told me they couldn't check anything because it was the spares department or something like that... They also told me nobody will give me any information by phone... Should I drive to Edgware road to have a look? I actually don't want to get stuck in the traffic and to go there if they haven't any information!

I have booked the service C in Sapphire Autos in Harrow... Maybe I can drive to Edgware Road after that to see but this will be in 2 weeks...

I don't really want to spend more than 40 quid if they will give me the service book empty!

Updating details... The dealers don't give a **** of anything but profit

I own an SLK with 4 seats, probably I can load 2 little persons on the boot without the roof down... Actually i'm thinking, If the police stop me and We are 4 in the car, they couldn't fine me right?

I also attach the service book, if it can be called like that... I'm thinking to make the service C by my own (the MB specialist I have book will charge £170) but the binnacle's buttons don't work
