Looking for a good body shop in Columbus

Hey guys ,

I just discover a 1 inch crack at the bottom of my front bumper. I ask my usual MB shop in Columbus and they ask provide me two options :
- 1 replace the bumper for 2200 dollars
- 2 fix it for 350 , with no paint job.

I'm not happy of neither of the options so i would like to see with a non MB body shop to make the fix.

Anyone have any advices for a good body shop in Columbus Ohio ?

Thanks !

Pxl

Hey Pxl - go to a different shop - that's an insane price for a R171, non-AMG bumper cover+spray+install.

I had a similar crack on my bumper cover repaired by a local shop for $200.\

Hope you get some advice on good local shops.

Have you asked any people/friends in the Columbus area what their recommendations might be? Have you looked in your local Yellow Pages?

Now, how visible is this crack? Maybe get a repair kit(most parts stores have these) and touch-up paint and give it a go. It shouldn't be too hard of a dyi.

Good luck.

Definitely true. If the crack is out of sight, it's out of mind. Prop up the SLK on some stands, plastic weld (or epoxy, whatever you can find,) grab some matching color paint, sand down the area flat, spray out and clear coat it. 1 day job (mostly waiting for paint to dry) and you'll be on your way like nothing ever happened.

If the crack is visible, however, body shop can do it for insanely cheap, and they probably don't need to remove the bumper. Mostly, the cracks on our cars are in the same area (side cheek bones on the bumper) so the body shop has probably done it before.

C-Classes and SL-Classes have the same problem.

Hey Guys ,

A quick update. I went to a Germain/Mercedes Body recommended by my Mercedes Garage and they make a 680 dollars estimate. But this time they want to re-paint the whole bumper. I will search a bit but if i have no better option i will have to do it.
