Mercedes Day Sunday 18th August. A good opportunity to have a look around this museum although being mid-August it will be heaving with holidaymakers from the many New Forest camp sites, so if you're sensitive to having your car smeared with kiddies sticky fingers avoid.
Previous experience from 15 years ago attending a themed event with a 1960's classic British sports car was to arrive as soon as possible & escape by noon.
I plan to do likewise this year.

Hi

Is there anyone else thinking of going to this? There are a couple of people on the Facebook SLK groups thinking of going and I wonder if we shouldn't all meet up - after all, we're all SLK fans.

Sent from my phone while my back was turned.

Fantastic!
That has to be one of the best MB shows we’ve ever been to!
Despite an early shower the sun came out and the whole day was sunny if a little breezy later on.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better display of Mercs young and old, all models, all types, though newer cars were to the fore. Unofficially as we left I was told there were nearly four hundred cars there but Im awaiting confirmation of final numbers. The Museum presented a perfect backdrop and the grounds and gardens were lovely.
Entry was just £10 per person compared to the normal Museum entry of £24.95 and gave access to all areas.
This was the first time for this event, organised by Naser Sharif, South Region Officer of the MB club, but it was open to all MB owners, brilliant!
I’m sure it will be on again next year, don’t miss it!
Thanks to Libby for the pics, (I was too busy watching the arrivals and chatting to current and potential SLK owners, sorry!) my car lurking in dappled shade under the trees early in the day.
See you there next year I hope?
NB All the children were charming, very enthusiastic, loved sitting in my motor and none had sticky fingers! We arrived early and stayed till the very end and it was a joy.

UPDATE
Just had confirmation from Naser that there were a total of 424 cars attended and 854 participants. Beaulieu are very pleased (that’s an extra £8,540 in their coffers) and have confirmed that this will be an annual event from now on. A press release is due later this week.

MB Club parking was always on the grass due to the number of Club entries (300+ I believe) though the grass was wet from early morning rain the ground was firm and didn’t present any problems. In fact there were RWD cars on both grass and hardstanding, the G-Wagon cars formed their own display in the arena due to the 40th Anniversary.
