For SoCal folks, it's starting to look like a Friday through Monday deal, if we do the Fort Bragg event.
Friday, July 19: leave SoCal and stay near San Jose Area. I've stayed at Fairfield Inn, at San Carlos. It's next to the 101 with a steakhouse next door (for Friday Night dinner), and it's relatively uncrowded being next to a small local airfield (for small aircraft). This is roughly a 7 hour drive using 5 and 101 from Lake Forest, CA. We may be able to have lunch at the Coalinga,CA area (roughly 4 hrs from SoCal), then another 3 hours, more or less, to Santa Cruz, CA.
Saturday, July 20: Meet Sacramento and NorCal group at Santa Rosa (need to designate a meeting time and place in Santa Rosa) ~90 minute drive from San Carlos to Santa Rosa, then to Fort Bragg for lunch (breakfast included at Fairfield Inn, San Carlos, CA), follow Sacramento group's itinerary for the rest of Saturday. Stay at BeachComber motel in Fort Bragg, CA.
Sunday, July 21: follow Sacramento group's itinerary. Stay at BeachComber motel.
Monday, July 22: leave Fort Bragg to SoCal (9 hours w/o break) on highway 5 to Lake Forest,CA.
If the above scenario makes sense, we better start making hotel reservations. I think it is do-able.
What do you guys think?
