Orange County/North SD Drive June 18

Based on conversation from the Lake Castaic BBQ, it sounded like there was interest in a drive before June 25th. I'll take the intiative to start the thread and see if the interest materializes.

Since the 11th is very short notice and the 19th is Father's Day, I propose the 18th. Hopefully SoCalSLKDude will be able to attend with his visiting foreign exchange student, I will have an open seat if you need it (others probably will too).

There is also a MBJunkies event on this day if we want to start driving earlier so some SLKs stop by the event. Link to MBJunkies event:
https://www.slkworld.com/u-s-californ...save-date.html

As for the route, I propose the Avocado country run that from last year. It relatively close to Orange County, unless there is an interest in doing Ortega, which is probably too slow for some people. If anyone else has ideas for good roads closer to Orange County, feel free to suggest.
Here is the thread from last year's run:
https://www.slkworld.com/u-s-californ...socal-run.html

Meeting time is tentatively 9:00am at the Starbucks at
32080 Clinton Keith Road, Wildomar, CA 92595

Here is the latest route we will be taking from north to south at Durk's suggestion.

I'd be up for this, and doing the "avocado" drive perhaps in the other direction from last year, so that we end up on the Orange county side. That way people that want can go straight from the end-point to the mbjunkies event.

I would propose the meet-up point be the Starbucks at
32080 Clinton Keith Road, Wildomar, CA 92595

People coming from Coastal LA or OC can take Ortega to the 15 (itself a very nice drive). Folks a bit further North can take 91 or whatever they are familiar with. Exit Clinton Keith road in Wildomar/Murietta.

I can take us through Avocado country until we hit Fallbrook on the other side. Then we can continue North to get to lunch (the mbjunkies BBQ) for those that feel like it.

Woohoo 110 mile drive down the 5 freeway on a Saturday morning on the VERY weekend they plan to shut down the 405 freeway! I'll wake up at 3 in the morning and STILL get there late! Haha.

Don't worry, I'll see you there.

Sounds good, I propose Durk be the pathfinder for this route again. When we get to Fallbrook anyone that isn't going to the BBQ can pull out and go their seperate way. Starting a sign-up and intended meetup point to avoid confusion. I'm sure the OC guys will pick their own meeting place.

Sorry to replicate you Aaron, you posted just as I was typing up the list. Didn't the local authorities tell you not to travel on that weekend?

Haha no worries. Now of course we need to invite SoCalSLKDude over cause after all, this was a little bit of his idea. :-)

P.S. - I already sent him a PM.

Edit: Eddy, unless Pablo or another NorSoCal SLK member joins the treck down with me, I doubt there will be another meeting spot up north. Put me down for the starbucks meet point.

Woah, you guys are awesome!! I guess nobody read my post at the bottom of the Castaik post - I had decided there was not a time when we could make it before Pia goes back to Sweeden! Now I have to beg my "Speed Limiter" to let us go. We have Heather's graduation party on Saturday the 18th. The wife hates preparing for such an event alone!

What time you figure we'll be done? I'm thinking we'll just have to squeeze it in!! I may need 2 open passenger seats, since my other daughter is home from college for 4 days - she would love it too!

Thanks!
Love you guys!!

I ALMOST want to say that we should drop you guys off in front of the party in a convoy format...

A whole bunch of SLKs driving up to the front door of wherever the heck for a graduation party. I think that would be awesome. Just the thoughts that rolls through my head....

P.S. - Ponia, when do I ever listen to my local authorities? Oh... right.. when they have big flashing red and blue lights behind me...

I was almost going to put my name on the list but decided to look at the calendar first. Gotta take my niece back to Pasadena that day, then a poker game in LA that nite.
I can't believe this..right in my own back yard (almost), and I still can't hook up with you guys!

By the way, since this is very very quickly after the previous run+bbq, I'd be OK with moving it to July as well. I still plan to go to the mbjunkies bbq on the 18th.

Hopefully you all can make it, it would be a fun time. Last time we met at 10:30 and had lunch around noon-ish, so my guess is you could be home before noon if you took off right after the run. That's enough to convince the "Speed Limiter" right? Some will want to go to the BBQ as well which starts at 11:00, which is the whole reason I made it earlier in the day so it would work out for everyone.

Not sure if I can make it, have a friend driving down from Vancouver (Canada) to SD and he plans to make it to SD around Saturday give or take a day. As the date gets closer I can confirm for sure.

How are you going to get 4 individuals to Wildomar?

If mate decides not to come, I should have one co-pilot seat available.

I never thought of that! Maybe if I keep the top up, one can fit in the trunk! JK!

We are at the 55 - 91 interchange. Maybe if someone is coming down from the north, we could meet up. I can fit 2 in my SLK for the short run down the 91-15.

I'll have room for a passenger. Sounds like it's going to be pretty fun! You'll just have to make sure all the passengers make it to the meet-point .

EDIT: Oh sorry, I just realized the biggest issue here is getting all the passengers to Wildomar. Not sure I'll be much help there. Once we get started on the run I have a seat available to someone who wants to be the front-car-passenger though.
