$125 track day at Willow Springs-Big Willow Track-February 5th in SoCal

Via benzworld:

$125 track day at Willow Springs-Big Willow Track-February 5th in SoCal.

Extremespeedtrackevents.com will be at Willow Springs -Big Willow-February 5th for a track day,all drivers will have a special track day price of only $125.00 (DISCOUNT CODE IS willow4) for a whole day of fun. Any Questions contact Chris Willard at [email protected] com(co founder of REDLINE Time Attacks and now new owner of EXTREMESPEEDTRACKEVENTS.COM)
or register at Extreme Speed Track Events
Free on track help for beginner.

This sounds like a lot of fun. To get the discount you have to register by 1/20, although that is already an extended deadline. It can't be extended much beyond that I'm sure since that will be 2 weeks before the actual event.

Better get thinking fast, but that sounds like a boatload of fun.

Should this be our next meet?

If we do it, I'm sure this would be the Feb meet! I think it would be fantastic.

My headlamp problem just came back so I want to be a bit non-committal on this one until I can be sure my car won't be in the shop. Probably won't be though since I intend to swap some parts from left to right side until I can make the problem switch sides.

This sounds like fun. Does anyone have any more information on exactly what the days events will be? I couldn't find anything on the website.

Also, how hard would something like this actually be on your car? Mechanically.

A couple things to you guys that haven't done a track day.
1. buy a couple roles of 3" BLUE painters tape. Then, completely cover the painted parts on the front of your car. Also tape off behind the wheels. Willow Springs can be pretty tough on purdy paint. You can do it at the track.. everyone else does too.
2. Your car insurance probably does NOT cover you should you F'up your car, or someone elses. Most policies specifically state that the car cannot be used in racing events. So if you plow into someone, you pay. Check your policy.
3. Track days events are NOT racing although passing is allowed if done safely. REMEMBER that on the track.
4. Yes, it's pretty tough on tires and brakes. Make sure both are up to the task.
5. Most importantly.. when you're out on the track... RELAX! Otherwise you'll be so flippin tired after a couple laps, you won't enjoy much of the day.

I talked with Xtremespeed staff today they said all SLK World members who register will get free timing and a free t-shirt.
I talked with joel at [email protected]
He said all we have to do is bring a copy of this posting with us and see him at registration the morning of the event and it's done.He said we can email him directly to confirm.
Don't forget to bring a copy of this thread to get your t-shirt and free timing.

It looks like a lot of people while excited about the prospect of a track day (especially after the ZR-1 experience at Spring Mountain, NV!) are having second thoughts about the insurance impact and potential damage they would do to their cars. I have to admit I am in that group .

I'll start a roll-call here that people can copy and add their names to. Note that there will be no central reservation for this event. Everybody will have to sign up on their own on the aforementioned website.

Rollcall:

1. Cyberdrakon

EDIT: Removed noober because of his reply below this post.

Worried about rock chips, decreased life of rotors, pads and tires and insurance issues.

I may consider coming to watch and maybe listen in on the classroom stuff (if allowed).

You may have to scratch me from this listing. My company just gave me word that I will be an on-call tech for the next.. month. And when I say "on call," I mean 3 AM wakeup calls to get my butt to work.

This includes weekends, which means this one. Unfortunately, I'm out of the race today :-(

I'm trying to get my car ready to go; i'm registering tonight. I've spoken to Durk, and he'll most likely be up for it as well. I need new tires and rotors, but i'm sure i have enough time.
