All Season Tyres (UK)

For a few years now I've had Michelin Cross climates on all my cars and they have been great in winter (I live in an area prone to snow in winter) and they have got me around when others have been stranded.

The tyres currently fitted to my SLK are 245x35R18's that Michelin don't do in the cross climate but they do make a 245x40R18.

Would these tyres be suitable to fit?

If you are increasing the sidewall that much, then you would need to go skinnier - check one of the websites which show differences, but 225 might be ok. Yes you will lose a small amount of dry traction, but skinnier is meant to work better in snow and less aquaplaning
