245/40/18 rear tires

Hi guys, I have a 2013 slk350 r172.
Will a pair of 245/40/18 rear tires do any harm other than an inaccurate odometer reading?
I bought them with the car. They are brand new.
The manufacturer calls for 245/35/18

ESP intervention will be out of spec but no mechanical damage

245/40/18 rear tires

Hi, I like to think about things and discuss about them.
How will the slightly bigger tire(about 11mm larger radius) affect the esp?
The front tire will turn slightly faster than the rear. (at 100mph speedometer reading, the front tire turns about 2.5 mph faster)
Will the system recognize this as spinning?

Because the esp senses spinning of the wheel, skidding of the car or car turning on centre axis.

Please correct me if I am wrong..

It is not that the system will intervene under normal driving. The system will simply intervene a bit later or earlier than originally designed.

I am doubting if I have to change the to original specs or not.
If I decide to change them I have to change all four of them, to have the same brand of tires. (all are brand new)
There are no 245/35/18 for this brand of tires.(torque brand)

I do only short distance (20 miles) driving at 70/80 mph max. twice a week?

I have the car for a month or two? no issues nothing.
Drives and handles very well..

I have a 265/35/18 rear tire (.6 taller than stock) as do others without any issues. The decision is strictly up to you and what you feel comfortable doing.

Likely no need to immediately change, especially if you are a conservative driver.
However do avoid different tire heights on the next change.

Will change them to manufactures specs the next time. Since this car is not my primary car, probably the tires will be changed over 5 years from now?
