Winter tyres question (UK weather)

I'm thinking about putting some winter tyres on the 350 mostly because of the slippy roundabouts we have near us combined with the amount of traffic which means you often need to 'gun it' to pull into gaps safely. I would normally get the Subaru Forester out if it actually snows a few inches!

I'm thinking (for 17 inch wheels):-

Michelin Pilot Alpin rears
Michelin Cross Climates front (I guess not safe to keep the Continental Sport Contacts on).

Any recommendations?

Garage
I've seen good reports on the Michelin Cross Climates & "Honest John" in the Telegraph keeps recommending them...

Though You are looking for more cold wet weather performance, than actual snow performance?

Yes. the Cross Climates seem to win every test. I couldn't find them in the rear size for my car (unless I spend a fortune) but definitely for the front.

I'm thinking that I could put them on the front for a couple of years and use all year round, but swap the Conti Sport 5's for Michelin Alpin's for the winters (available cheaper with a search

Had Cross Climates on a car just after they came out. Fabulous tyres......only problem they have really hiked the price now.

I have got the Cross Climates on my X-type. They are as good as winter tyres in the snow. I would recommend them
