Which 18” alloys for R171 350?

Hi all,
I have decided to change my wheels and want to go from 17” to 18”.
I originally bought a set of veemann fs23 only to find they didn’t fit (even though the supplier told me over the phone that they fit!). They hit the front 4 pot callipers and would need 10-15mm spacers to clear so they are being sent back.

Talking with some of the alloy suppliers in the uk is getting me nowhere as none can guarantee that anything will fit without spacers and that I will have buy them and either use spacers or send them back if they don’t!

As I don’t want to go ahead and order another set only to have to send them back again I am in a bit of a pickle.

Can anyone with a 350 (or 55 with the 4 pot callipers) who has aftermarket alloys fitted please tell me what make / style / offset you have and if you needed spacers?

Also, if you could post photos I would appreciate it

Thanks all.

Can tell you that the diameter and offset, while important, are not the critical factor in a R171, it is having a curved spoke like the factory to clear the front calipers. With most wheels just adding spacers makes the offset all rong.

I gave up looking as i had the same issue with dealers not wanting to commit as to whether they would fit without spacers and also messing up offsets, also to consider is the r171 can look awful without the right wheel and the more i look at the standard set up on 17s is pretty good, so i have decided to get mine refurbed and lower the car on them with some decent springs, have you thought of changing the colour of the standard rims to maybe gunmetal or anthracite, depending on the colour of your car they can look nice i think

I thought about having my 17” alloys powder coated in graphite grey but decided that 18” suit the car better.
Besides, I have just bought a set of 18” tyres which I now can’t return.
I will look for something with the clearance otherwise I may just buy standard Mercedes 18” alloys, I’m just after something different and personal to me.

Mugs, I'm planning to downsize from the Rial 18" mounted on the 2009 SL 300 I'm picking up Friday. I'll get you pictures of them if you are interested in them. They are a five spoke wheel, mounting Pirelli P-Zero Rossos, 225/40zr18 in front, Hankook Venus V12 evo2, 245/35zr18 in back.

Though I see you are in the UK - shipping might make this prohibitive.

Thanks.
I eventually bought a set of 18” AMG 3s but I have since sold the R171 and bought an R172 so I too am now selling wheels
