First time poster, long long time lurker, thanks for the free tips over the years, will try contribute back.
I've got an R171/2007 SLK 280 with the sports pack I think (red belts and stitching, perforated brake discs), pretty much original except Android 8 head-unit replacement and cheapo ebay wheel centre cap replacements, anyways.
Pads and discs need doing, which I've been quoted ballpark for all four corners £ 1k
from a reputable non-dealer garage while in for a ~C level service pre-MOT.
I could pickup a near identical full roadworthy spare(s) car for £ 6-7.5k but also don't have cost convenient storage just yet. My mileage isn't significant enough to consider something newer/more-efficient/£
I've put this off for now until just before the MOT, but I've not asked garage what specific parts or options that £ 1k includes / will ask on Monday with your advice in hand
I'd assume they've quoted based on some sort of OEM like-for-like replacement.
Are there different pad/disk options or kits to consider changing or upgrading while forking out anyway? What would you do?
