tire sizing between 16" and 17"

I'm probably just worrying myself needlessly because I'm waiting for my new wheels and tires to arrive, but I thought this worth asking.

I'm switching the SLK 280 from its original 16" rims and 205/55ZR16 front, 225/50ZR16 rear tires to the Sport kit 17" rims and 225/45ZR17 front, 245/40ZR17 rear tires. Poking through Tirerack.com's specifications for the Conti ExtremeContact DWs I ordered and comparing the sizes, the 17" front tire is about 0.1 inch larger diameter compared to the 16" and the 17" rear tire is about 0.2 inch smaller diameter compared to the 16". The difference in if you were to measure number of rotations in a mile is such that in a mile the fronts would turn very close to the same number of rotations, but the 17" rear will turn about 10 rotations more than the 16".

Is there any possibility of this difference confusing the ESP, ABS, or other car systems? It seems a very small difference but ten rotations per mile does add up. (The speedometer reading should be inflated by about 1%... bragging rights! )

thanks!
G

(It might be that just bumping up the rear tire pressure from 35 to 37 psi will take care of the difference...)

Short answer, no.
No problem at all.
If you want to check which tire/rim combination is officially allowed by MB take a look here .

Thanks for the document!

(I'm getting some good opportunities to refresh my German language skills lately with all the SLK stuff I've been poking through. :-)
