Question I want to lower the ride of my SLKr170 230 kompressor (2000)

Hi guys,

Im looking for advice on what I need to lower my slkr170 230, and the variables I need to consider when doing it.

If anyone could tell me what parts are best (springs or what not) and the best way to install them myself, that'd be great.

You sure you really want to do that?

The SLK is pretty low as it is and you will risk making it quite difficult (and uncomfortable) to use on normal roads and over speed bumps etc. Besides, the body is not that stiff so I doubt you will get much better cornering performance if that what's you're after.

But there are several manufacturers that can offer you new lower (and harder) springs. E.g:
Lowering Springs to fit the Mercedes SLK (96>04) R170

Changing out the springs is not that difficult technically but it requires a proper set of tools (spring compressor etc) and a lift and will take you some time. And of course you need to get the camber and toe adjusted/verified afterwards otherwise the handling will be affected and the tires will wear quickly.
