Best Parts

I have 38000 miles on my 2007 SLK 280. I need new front brakes. Questions:
1. I want to purchase the parts and have the dealer install them. My dealer agreed to do this. Should I purchase pads, rotors, calipers, and sensors or just pads and rotors?
2. What is the best brand of pads? Rotors? Calipers? Sensors? What is your thought on ceramic pads?
3. The manual for the SLK 280 is 473 pages long. I feel that I need a tutoring session to find out what every control does. Any suggestions for an efficient way to learn about the car than poring over 473 pages?
Again, thanks to everyone for their anticipated input.

Yeah, what he said!

There should be no reason to replace calipers unless they are leaking or not working...and the latter might be a problem with the flexible brake line and not the caliper.

I would also be surprised if rotors were worn down at such a low mileage. If they are, the OEM rotors are made differently from many AM suppliers in that the round holes are cast in and not drilled, which helps to eliminate stress cracks.

The OEM pads are fine but like all M-B pads since time immemorial they do create a lot of dust. Some folks I know swear by the Akebono metallic/ceramic pads which create much less dust. Some say that initial bite isn't as strong as with factory pads; others can't tell any differenct. This might come down to how aggressively you drive and brake.

The sensors are so cheap that you might as well get them at the dealer.
