R171 17" wheels on a R170 Lug Bolt difference.

HI

I got a nice clean set of 17" R171 staggered five spoke takeoffs to fit to my R170.

The Wheels are 17"X7.5" 42MM OFFSET &17X8.5 WITH 36MM OFFSET

They are from a 12-15 250-350SLK

So I quickly discovered that the Lug Bolts are very different and after doing a small bit of research on the site here I wonder if anyone can confirm if the following is what I am looking for in a Lug Bolt:

12x1.5 35mm

Are you sure they are from a R171?
Bolts for R171 and R170 are the same.
If I look at the offsets they seem to be from a R172 and they use M14 bolts instead of M12 for the 170/171.
Be aware that M14 bolts have a R14 radius, so to mount these wheels save and secure on your R170 you will need M12 bolts with a R14 radius head.

Yeah they are probably from a R172 the eBay ad says 171 but the wheels are newer so it figures that they are from a 172.

I ordered a set of 12 x 1.5 34mm bolts from Otis LA .... Oops.

I will have to see if they have the M14 radius with the M12 bolts or order a set from Germany.

Thanks!!

It seems that Otis LA have M12 1.5 bolts with R14 ball seats:

RAD Lug Bolt 12mmx1.5, 26mm Shank, R14 Ball Seat, Hex 17

they have the 26mm in stock and:

RAD Lug Bolt 12mmx1.5, 35mm Shank, R14 Ball Seat, Hex 17

The 35mm shank is out of stock.

I got the bolts Otis-LA and measured the two wheels for how far the bolts stuck out from the inside of the wheel.

The r170 16" wheels and original lugs stick out about 15mm

The m12x1.5mm 34mm sticks out about 25mm from the R172 wheels.

So I just ordered a set of M12x1.5 R14 26mm bolts which I think will be the correct bolts for the application of R172 wheels to a R170

RAD Lug Bolt 12mmx1.5, 26mm Shank, R14 Ball Seat, Hex 17

I will get the 26mm bolts on Tuesday and post some Pics.
