R171 vs R172 wheels

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the R171 and R172 wheels. Having checked the diameter of the studs on my 2012 R172 AMG 55 and my old R171 350 it would appear the stud diameter is 14mm on the R172 and 13mm on the 171, is this correct and the only difference or is the PCD different as well. I want to get 4 wheels set up for winter weather and whenever I see a set of wheels I fancy the company selling doesn't know if there is a difference or not. Can anyone enlighten me?

PCD is the same.
R171 is M12x1.5
R172 is M14x1.5

Offset is different see Mercedes-Benz Fitting Chart and Wheel Fitment Guide | Alloy Wheels Direct

All and all they are not interchangable.
R171 wheels on an R172 obviously will not fit.
You could use R172 wheels on a R171 using special bolts, with a M12 thread and the head of M14 bolt.

That's correct. I'm currently driving original R172 MB wheels under my R171 car.

Thanks.

Paul,
Where did you find the bolts you needed to adapt?

He probably got them here https://spurverbreiterung.de/index.php?cat=c354_nach-Gewinde.html&gw=2&kf=30 but I guess they are available in the US too.

It looks like summit sells these in the US.

So in these measurements does "R14" indicate the shape of the seat as a sphere with "Radius 14MM"?
