So......really need help with this rim size / offset thingy. Feeling a bit dumb.com.
What the devil is this offset thing exactly? I KNOW it's important but I just don't get it. Don't think I wanna get. Can someone just tell me what sizes I need to get? Please?
This is what I'm looking for for our R170 SLK 230 Kompressor 1999.
New rims and tyres
Preferred Option 1:
ideally running 18s with 225 fronts and 255 rears.
Can someone tell me exactly what size rims I need to order for this setup?
The other problem here is that the safety regulations here in Germany are soooo strict and I'm being told by various specialists and the stealership that we can only go MAXIMUM 17s, otherwise we need to roll the wheel arches. Not happening. Whilst other rims shops are saying - of course you can have 18s.
So with that in mind - Option 2 (not preferred):
17s with 225 fronts and 255 rears.
What size would I need to order for this setup?
Does all this change depending on the wheel manufacturer?
Would really appreciate a clear answer - can't seem to get one here in Germany. Maybe it has a lot to do with the fact that it's all in German and I don't think I could
understand it - even in English!!! But still can't get my head around it all. The allgebra equations are just too much for my brain!
The car is not lowered btw.
Any clarity would be fab. Don't want to mess around with spacers and all that.
Thanks in advance,
