Ah, no I'm not intending to remove the rear boxes although Supersprint do what they call a large bore (63.5mm?) complete system which includes sports rear boxes but at £800 per side, it's too rich for my blood! Their X pipe is also 63.5 which is strange since as you have said, I thought our original system is 63.5?

I have ordered a micrometer to double check the diameter at the rear join point of the X pipe. I need this to establish the size of the stepped join sleeve needed to connect the 63.5 (2.5 inch) to the existing pipes. Much discussion on this and I have a suspicion that the forward pipes on the OEM system are 63.5 but narrow at the exit of the centre resonator backwards. I could be wrong but Supersprint insist I need a stepped sleeve to connect their X pipe to the existing system.

The Supersprint is longer than the CKS X pipe too and includes the two hangers.

I purchased a micrometre and measured the pipes. The pipes rearward from the centre resonator are in fact 60mm 2.36 inches. Forward of the resonator and from the cats to the downpipes the pipes are oval 75mm width. I cannot get my micrometre around the depth but I suspect they are less than 60mm.

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone could offer some advice. I purchased an X Pipe from CKS for the 171 55. I arranged to get it fitted at a local exhaust specialists. They fitted it, took about 2 hours labour.

I collected and drove home then noticed one side of the exhausts is not aligned / too close to bumper. I contacted the exhaust shop, bought it back and they told me its the X Pipe part which had made it out of alignment forcing the ends. They've said there is nothing they can do. Now its started to rub on the trim. Its so frustrating, I have contacted CKS they have not been very helpful either. They have said they never had any issues and when I asked if I could bring it for them to inspect - they don't have anyone that can have a look either. Conversing over emails and have sent pictures over.

Anything you guys recommend? I m getting so frustrated I want to remove whole thing...
I've been wanting to get secondary cats next, wondering if this would help I don't know.. Been a bloody headache..

Does anyone know if you can still remove the 2nd CAT's as I heard somewhere that you can't any more due to MOT regs?

Also, anyone know of a decent place in Lincolnshire (or near by Lincs) that can fabricate & fit an X-pipe?

Cheers.

From what I've understood, it's a hit-and-miss. Some MOT guys hit on it, some let it slide.. Not sure what the law actually say though.

Was going to remove the 2nd CAT's, don't think I'll bother now as it might end up being a pain with the MOT.

Would it be worth sticking an X-pipe on with the 2nd CAT's still there or wouldn't I gain much (noise that is)?

I've removed my secondary CATs and fitted a x-pipe, I've never had a problem with a MOT.

Thanks Andy, I'll go for removing the secondary CAT's & stick an X-pipe on.

Are there any decent places in the Lincolnshire area that anyone could recommend?

Cheers.
Chris.

Mr Exhaust is the best around that I know of, people is known to travel 150 miles or more to use them. Myself I travelled 120miles to use them.
They do nothing else but Exhaust, fabrication, stainless steel build to your specification, anything that you want they're able to do.

From Lincolnshire 130 miles, they can do same day as well if you plan it.

18 London Road, reigate, Surrey, RH2 9HY.
01737243900.

Worth checking their website or call and ask for George.

Done it all sorted. The place I first took it to get fitted were rubbish and hadn’t aligned it properly did a poor job.

Took it to Powerflow south London and they had to take it out and refit, heat and align properly. Can’t stress how important good places are!

Found Powerflow Mitcham South London, highly recommend these chaps for anyone this end. Speak with Dan. Top bloke.

While at it did the secondary cats and it’s glorious. Quiet enough rumble cruising but once you open the baby up:eek::cool:
