Last Saturday I was hanging out with some friends, so I borrowed my mothers 5 series (SLKs can be antisocial). On my way past my school, some old fart on a motorcycle was doing like 35 in a 55 so being the hormone filled teenager I am I overtook him at 80 and crossed the double yellow line. Then I looked in the rearview mirror and realized that the old fart on a motorcycle was my freaking drivers education teacher -.-

indiekid722,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your location/vehicle (model and year) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. And it only takes about 30 seconds to do!

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member or guest will address your question.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message)- capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
New members and guests should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.

Hi indiekid722, I got no problem passing anyone doing 35 in a 55 and have been accused of speeding on numerous occasions. My response is "I don't speed, I just don't waste any time getting to the speed limit + 5, set cruise, no worries". lol, However, being an old geezer who rides a Gold Wing (drags floorboards in the curves), drives an SLK and a Corvette, I have the advantage of being aware of my own mortality and desire to keep my insurance premiums low and not help fund the local law enforcement.

Just think, in about a 50 years, you too will be an old geezer (as long as you stay on the right side of the double yellow).

... a Gold Wing (drags floorboards in the curves)...
Less bike lean more body lean (centre of gravity) in curve will cure this. Did cafe racing for 5 years and have never touched a peg on the street.

Indiekid: Just lucky it was not a cop. Plus is it really 55 in a school zone?

Most drivers don't know that school zones are in effect whenever a child is present....not just during school hours. Therefore, if children are skateboarding on the school parking lot at 8pm on Saturday evening....SCHOOL ZONE!

Not to lecture, but in our state, you can lose you license for 1 year if caught driving more than 20 over the 20mph school zone limit. Worse yet.....injuring or killing a child in a vehicular accident will certainly change your life forever!
