Anyone have the MAP pinout diagram for a 2001 230K? I need to know which wire is the signal wire. Connecting a voltage clamp since the car is putting out 14 psi now and is hitting limp mode at 11 psi.

Hi.

What is the MAP? Or do you mean the MAF? (sorry if I'm being dense - it's late over here...) Thanks

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor ..............

And sorry, don't ask me where it is, I am 4 Cylinder Petrol Engine blind, I very rarely work on them and have had little interest to do so since my late teens ;) ....................

Which was a very very long time ago ?

Thanks @Dave2302 . I did look that up, independently, this morning. Will have anothetr look through my files and see what diagnostic info I can find.

FWIW the V8's and V6's MAP Sensor has 3 Wires ...............

Red / Yellow = + 5V
Brown / Green = ECU Sensor Earth
Red / Grey = Pressure Signal

They may just be wired the same and same colours, stranger things have happened with MB's !!

The MAP sensor is labelled as a Pressure Sensor B28. If that's right, then it's a 3-wire sensor as @Dave2302 says. The colour codes differ slightly from his description though so do double-check your colour codes!! Also there looks to be another pressure sensor on the car too - the Altitude Sensor, B18.

Concentrating on B28 (for an 111.983 engine):
  • Red / Yellow = + 5V relative to ECU sensor earth (pin 3.30 on N3/10 to pin 3.49)
  • Yellow / Black = ECU Sensor Earth (pin 3.49)
  • Brown / Black = Pressure Signal (pin 3.36)
With ignition on you should measure > 3.5 V and with the engine at idle < 2 V on pin 3.36 at > 300 mBar

Yes "Pressure Sensor" ;)

I don't think he need to fool the Barometric Sensor Ckt, just MAP as he is running extra Boost ;)

Personally I don't like 'Tom' foolery circuits, if this were a V6 or V8 Kompressor I would switch off the Over-boost monitor in the ME ;)
However as said, I do not know if that is even possible on a 4 Cylinder ECU, would certainly need SDS Developer.
