Mine's FL (FaceLift), so I didn't have anything in the passenger foot well.. But have a look anyway.

Well if it is not in the passengers side then is it in the drivers side ? If so I may have found my issue as the window seal seems to leak abit when it rains on the floor of the drivers side so if the audio gateway is the drivers side that may of corrode or damaged the wiring but if not I'm back to square 1 no idea lol as all fuses front back and near the steering wheel seem fine.

Well I'm sure it was suppose to be passengers side but if it is the drivers side I may have found what is causing my problem do you know if on uk models it is in the drivers side ? As if so I may have found the issue as my window screen seal leaks the tiniest bit in heavy rain as I realised the other day and drips on the floor drivers side I noticed but if it's not that side I'm back to square one and have absolute no idea what would be causing this voltage drop ...

FL has the AGW built in the HU. Yours is a pre-FL and I am 99.9 % sure it is in the left side, passenger side, in your case.

Uk the canbus is under drivers carpet.
Where is the rear sam unit/ fuse box on mine as taken the carpet up I cant see it lol

See post 13. Turbo explained it well.

This thing is easy enough to look at. The mat covering it comes out without any tools or anything (it's just held in place by its rigidity :) ), and then there's half a million bolts (actually, it might just have been eight, or was it ten?), but they're easy to get to. Then that plate comes down easily enough.

I have DVD player in the middle so wernt sure about the wiring lol
Me too (NAV DVD). Set up is underneath.
Remove lining (couple of plastic studs), you see the metal work shown by Turbo.
Undo many bolts (still think it is 10 or 12) then you can see SAM and fuses.

Okay perfect that will be my first job in the morning lol,

My next question is i know the audio gateway is either driver or passenger in footwell but someone above mention Canbus ???
I mentioned it. The only reason that I know where it is, is due to SmartTop connections.

Not a clue what else it does. All the dark arts to me.
It does get abit confusing lol but we will get there in the end ☺

Maybe Turbo may be able to shed some light on it tomorrow at some point🤞😇

Well, I've lost the plot! :)

I have no idea what you're up to now :D :D.

Did you manage to "open up" that rear board and have a look at the breakers and the SAM? There's also that front SAM under the main breaker box (opposite the the battery compartment - for us, it's on the right/driver side). That is also prone to water ingress (leaky bonnet vent).

I have checked front sam all seems fine from what I can see

I have check the fusebox near steering wheel all fine

Just need to check rear sam unit and navigation fuse in the back tomorrow and that really does seem simple enough just gonna follow your instructions to get to it

But just incase none of the above is my issue I need to know a few things

1. Where is the audio gateway located on my model

2. Where is the Canbus located on mine

Or are they in the same location?

As stated, the CAN bus "switch/relay/whatever" is under the seat, driver side. On both LHD and RHD :). Its just that for us, it's on the right side :D :D

That carpet is REALLY hard!! There's a think steel bar at the bottom towards the firewall, so won't bend up very much. I seriously recommend removing the seat, so you don't ruin something!

It's only two (three? connectors) and four bolts. Easy, peasy :)

Those brown wires are the CAN bus. BE CAREFUL no ruin it, it is VERY fragile! But whatever you're doing (unless you're hooking up a SmartTOP), don't touch it. Look, no touch :D

Oh, btw, "The CAN bus" is a computer network designed for vehicles. It's not like Ethernet or anything like that, but it is a computer network none the less.. Just slower, but it doesn't NEED to be faster..

It's so that all the computers in the car can talk to each other. The R171 have fifteen (!) and the R172 have thirty (!!!!). If you mess with that, you'd have A LOT weirder errors.
