Hi guys, and girls,

I have a '97 SLK230 and when the doors are opened or closed the windows are meant to retract slightly, and then extend again once the door is closed to make a good seal. Mine don't, although the motors work so I can control them with the switches, the automatic procedure for opening the door does noe.

Any one know how to fix this please?

Cheers,

Nick

search is always your friend,,top right:

Normalize one-touch windows - With the ignition on press and hold the drivers window control in the one-touch up position and continue to hold for a few seconds after the motor has stopped (relay will have clicked), now do the same for the passenger window (you can use the drivers controller). This will restore the one-touch up/down feature and enable the auto drop feature to raise the window again once the applicable door is closed.

On the 171 (2005 to 2011) they go down a little when you open the door. I had a 170 (1997 to 2004) and do not recall the windows going down when you open the door. Maybe some 170 owner can chime in on this.

Thanks guys, especuially JBanks. I'll give that a try. I should have started my post with "I have searched the following expressions; "Electric Window control problems", "Window motor problems", etc" I really appreciate your help, the trouble is that there are so many ways of expressing a search term - but only ones that have the right combination of words will match with an existing thread - and I obviously did not find the right combination.
Cheers.

On my 1998 SLK the windows do not move when you open or close the doors.
