Looking at repairing a 98 SLK230. The SLK350 front bumper cover is a little easier to find. It also looks better and newer. Can I bolt on a SLK350 Bumper cover to a SLK230?

It's not going to be close to bolt on, but I've seen it done before. I bet it's a significant amount of work, but no personal experience.

Thanks for the welcome here. But I've been a member for years now. I used to own a C230 and now looking for a SLK for my wife.

Edit: Oh and was gonna buy a SLK before the C.

I have searched and found another conversion from standard to AMG front ends, but it makes sense that a AMG conversion would be straight forward.
But since the 98 SLK and a 2009 SLK might have major differences. Just don't know.
From looks of the SLK230 and the SLK 350 I would have to swap the fenders, hood and the bumper cover along with the foam bumper absorber.

I wonder if there is anything else that I would need.

The SLK230 I am working with needs fenders, Hood, Bumper and Radiator Core support at least, so if I can take a accident and turn it into a MOD by replacing these parts with newer parts then I would love to put a 350 front end on it.

THanks

There are after-market kits for the R170 that give the front-end the appearance of the R171 bumper cover, but these kits are still specifically manufactured for the R170. Fitting an OEM bumper cover from a 171 onto a 170 will require a lot of work and probably modification to the back of the bumper in order to mount it properly. In addition the impact foam from neither the 170 nor the 171 will be usable so you'll probably have to have custom pieces made.

As much as I'm an advocate of buying genuine MB parts, on this one you're probably better of getting something aftermarket that's purpose-built.
