I do too. But don't feel bad, I rarely get any waves back. Now, if I were in Texas, that'd be an entirely different story! No matter what anyone has to say badly about Texas, folks are just down right friendly there! :tu:
This issue pops up regularly. I do, and it drives my wife nuts (along with pointing out any SLK I/we happen to see). If you like to do it...keep up the good work, sadly, don't expect a reply..
Not only do I wave, but I also try to track down the car/owner and hand out one of our NC/SC SLK Group info flyers. If I see an SLK parked somewhere, it will get a flyer under the windshield. Several of us in our group do that. None of us have been arrested for stalking yet.
I'm just as bad... I picked up our car on Wed evening, and there was a (brownish maroon??) 170 also waiting, with PQ plates - so I slipped a card under the wiper. Nothing back...
I wave.....don't care if I get a reply ......
We had this same thing on motorcycles.
BMW riders wave back, Harley riders only wave to Harley riders.
BMW K1200LT riders had the special "he-man woman haters club wave."
I waved/wave to everyone , SLK's, motorcycle, scooters, bicycles............
Everyone that's out in the air and not locked in a cage............
A great man once said "only a dog with it's head out the car window, understands why people ride motorcycles or drive convertibles."
Bicycles.......have you ever been traveling in the desert for two hours, never see another vehicle for hours, then there's this person pedaling a bicycle up the same hill you just coasted down and....... in my opinion they deserve a wave ( and a cold bottle of water if you have one.)..........
there......I'm done for now.
This subject just came up while driving my car yesterday. I waved at someone in another black slk and got nuthin'. My passenger said "it's not a motorcycle," but I didn't/don't care!
:rb
I wave all the time - Wife always asks; "who was that"? I always answer; "I don't know - but she wasn't cute enough to chase down anyway". Wife always responds; "very funny".
I always wave - because it is alway fun to have that little exchange with the one I love.
I wave, but rarely get a response. I also stare in disbelief when I see one with the top up and it isn't raining. In Oregon, if it isn't raining then there's generally no excuse for the top to be up!
Well, if anyone's passing Bournemouth and waves at me, you'll get a wave back with a big smile - and maybe we can go to "viewpoint", have a bacon roll with a cup of tea, lol...:biglaugh:
I wave, so far I think I've only had one return, and that was somone in an identical black 171 between Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing in case they lurk on here.
I dont have that trouble as I have only seen one SLK on the road here in Thailand , which is mine . So I look in the mirror and wave to myself .. (joking)
Out here in Kansas, especially in small towns, people wave.
I wave not only at SLK's but any Benz vehicles except trucks.
Not many SLK,s around here, only one older one that a university student owns. My SLK 55 is the only AMG in this corner of the state, so not any for me to wave at.
Most of the time when people wave at me they don't seem to use all 5 fingers, just that one long one. I guess with a face like this though it's to be expected!
I am usually the passenger and the person who takes the pictures so I should wave but never do. My bad!! But I think I am going to change and start waving - what the heck. I see lots of SLKs and other convertibles in the Palm Springs area. None never wave except once from two women in a nice BMW convertible. I am gonna start waving
all seem to be to important :butt: to wave in the Watford/Harrow area. (and don't know where the roof button is!)
bikers are much better at it. much friendlier. :burnout:
Being a former SLK55 owner I always notice an SLK on the road and will wave if the opportunity is there but I have to say that the Calgary owners are very reserved and rarely wave back and after trying to drum up some interest to form a group with my friend in Edmonton we gave up. I am extremely envious of the NW group and will one day catch up with one of their ventures.

I have started waving after reading this thread; and am in the Harrow area.
