I got a 99 r170 and there is a whistle noise coming from behind the dash board some where around the glove box. It seems to be a vaccum leak. Any ideas anyone before I start to dig in. Thank you

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the wheel that controls the center vents was shut and air was still being forced thru the vents and made a whistle noise. Opened it a hair and it went away.

It can be a leaf or similar bit of rubbish caught behind one of the vents or in the fan area. Not an uncommon problem with any car Hope you sort it as its most annoying isnt it

There are actually vacuum tubes controlling the air recirculation flap. But check out the previous suggestions before. Otherwise, you'll have to remove the glovebox and that means removing about a dozen screws.
