High-chrome stainless steel or chrome-effect plastic?

Are the plastic ones 'good enough' or should I go steel?

And is 17mm the right size for Silkie?

Thanks all

Simple (potentially stupid) question of the day...

If you have a standard locking/security wheel nut on each wheel, do these covers fit over that (locking nut is round, not hex, but wondered if these still push over it)? :D

Simple answer Dave is .... no they don't.

You have to replace the security bolts with standard ones. :frown:

Mmm... Pause for thought there, Davie. Thanks.

Carry the little removal tool with you at all times as without it trying to extract the covers is an utter pain. I keep one in the garage & one in the car.
Incidentally the quality of the covers is good, mine have lasted 3 years.
I paint the face of the locking wheel bolt with a 'light' smear of bright silver paint to help camouflage the fact it has no cover.

Yeah I intend to keep one with the locking wheel nut so that should be OK.

Annoyingly, you can get 16x covers + 4x locking nut covers if you drive a VW or Audi.

If the SLK needs 17mm covers (which these are), then perhaps they'll fit?... if only they were silver/chrome colour though... :(

I'd have bought them if they'd have been chrome. At that price if they're no good they can go in the bin. Or on a VW.

For the price (£2.45) I thought I'd try them. Arrived today, 10 days after ordering them. They do fit over the locking nuts, and the removal tool (that came with different set) works, so I'm going to try painting them.
