Hi all.
I´m still waiting for my 2001 slk 320 to be delivered.
But I know that the wintertires that comes with the car doesn´t fit without spacers (wrong ET), and I hate that so I will sell them as soon as everything is delivered.
What I have found out is that the original tires are 205/55-16 on 7" rims in the front with ET37 and 225/50-16 on 8" ET37 in the back.
I found some nice alloy rims that are 17" and 7,5" wide and thinking about putting 215 front and 235 back.. but they are ET35.
My question is, will they fit?

Maybe this list will cover it

Thank you Rofa.
It looks like I have to go up to 225/45 in front and 245/40 back.
But ET 35 or 37 is close enough so the rims I found should work..

You're welcome. Here is another site to double check

When I picked mine up last year it already had winter tires/wheels with spacers fitted. I didn't realise this and when putting on the summer wheels, one spacer stayed on the hub and the other 3 stayed on the wheels. Took me ages to sort the (simple) problem out!

The car will be delivered on summertires, original 16" rims and wintertires on 18" alloys. But the wintertires requires spacers and I don´t like that.
So I have ordered new wintertires to put on the original 16" rims and planning to buy new 17" alloys with summertires instead.
The 18" with wintertires that comes with the car I could probably sell :)

Hey, I have a 2001 SLK320 and when I bought it it had the original 16” five spoke alloys. I wanted to change them as there not for me. I decided on a set of staggered 18” Monoblocks. The fronts are et31 and the rears et35. As for the tyres I wanted a wide look so opted for 245/35/18 and 275/30/18. They do fit and look brilliant but on full lock they catch the arches and are speed they do rub if you come across the slightest dip in the road. So from experience and in my opinion I think the best set up when looking to change wheels on the R170 is not to go any bigger than 17” and with the tyres it’s a case of your personal preference. Good luck with whatever you decide and hope you enjoy the car.

I have a lot to fix on my car,but the major things are now sorted out.
For my wheels I decided to put wintertires on the original 16" 5-spoke rims and then I bought 17" DBV Torino II anthracite polished front rims, I got them today.
And I also bought Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 tires. 225/45-17 for the front and 245/40-17 for the rear.
Both are ET35 and it looks great in my opinion.
Now I will tighten the driveshafts to the right torque (got the information about that from this forum) and put the wintertires back on.
