I did have an awesome experience, and while it's a pain cleaning off the ash, I can understand now why the agriculture around here is so productive- every time mother nature has a gas attack, it's free fertiliser :) Although being very acidic for the car and toxic for airlines (should mention that all flights to Catania were cancelled due to this event)

Malta is very beautiful! Historic as well, what a fabulous place to be! Lucky you 🏝 Boston Coast is nice but very crowded, expensive!

Can't comment about others' situations but I concur, had many clients around Kendall Square which is where I normally ended up but I know this is not normal :)

Completed two projects today on my 350. #1, up on the ramps for an oil and filter change. #2, went looking for the burnt plastic smell i was getting on the front drivers side after driving the car for the last two trips. After removing the 3 plastic panels under the car went searching for a melted wire, however i noticed something strange on the exhaust pipe. Obviously it was the dreaded melted plastic bag that i've read about on this site. Scrapped it off and hopefully all is well now. I'm just glad it wasn't something more serious.

The R172 got its annual service today at my local indy, no major problems and they also managed to fix the really annoying rattle that happens on our pothole ridden roads in the UK. Turns out the the springs that tension the brake pads in the front calipers had weakened slightly causing them to rattle on small bumps. Two new springs at £8 each have now given me silence, I was finding that really annoying especially with the roof down!

Cut and finish perfect! 😁
Thought occurs ...the MB plexi versions have a hole cut in the lower edge. Being of a curious disposition, I wonder why? I was thinking along the lines of some kind of pressure relief hole and wondered if your fine efforts would benefit from a similar area.

I don't know, but I doubt whether it's a style thing. It may be worth checking it out. I know the heating and ventilation people did a lot of wind tunnel testing. It may be there in order to allow for flow through from the air con. Maybe???

You've done a great job, @racing_green .

fitted new wheel hub ect and had a road test :rolleyes:..humm still not happy.
So at 60mph ..lift off and let car slow down on its own and around 40mph the car vibrates ...through seat , steering wheel and brake pedal ! ..... having already checked all sorts i am now thinking... diff ( again ) or drive shaft .
at least it keeps me busy 🙈

I would think, it's something at the front half of the car...
If you're getting of the gas, vibrations in seat, steering and brake...
Suspension, steering parts... Engine/gearbox support...
Is it getting worse on a bad road?
Is it possible to try a 4WD dyno bench (if the front rollers also go round all the time, I don't know)?
Maybe you can see or hear something at that speed without moving with 60-40 Mph yourself.
I wish you good luck and hope you will find the problem.

You know cars far better than I but something I read recently.
During an impact the engine sheared one or more mounts but settled back in place afterwards, causing vibration.

You hit a bad pothole and I wonder if that has happened here, or perhaps the suspension cap that side.

Just throwing it out there.
