When I was writing and showing my S/T installation I noticed that I did not like this..

So I removed it, cleaned it up and repainted it.
Now I like it...

But there is still snow outside...
Find some new cover for the windshield wiper bolts and back to the new interior lights..

I did leave the USB cable attached to the S/T in case I want to change some settings.
I put her back together and all you can see now is this cable..

Todays task has been to drop my car off at my local vinyl specialists - bye bye god awful carbon on the C pillars that the prev owner did, hello gloss black and some 20% tint on rear screen to reduce glare.

(Not a fan of fake carbon for anyone who is confused)

As some point - if it warms up need to get in the garage and do the front arms / ARB drop links. Still havent idenfied a definite part for ARB bushes though the calipers tell me the bar is 21mm - there are multiple powerflex fitments for C / CLK - maybe i take a punt....?

Decided to change the cabin/pollen filter yesterday, as lockdown/weather wouldn't allow anything else!! Even with the car in the the air you still need to be double jointed to do this easily😉 But done now and the old one wasn't too bad, but did need to be changed. New one on left.

Was looking at these yesterday on Opie Oils. Big difference in price but the more expensive ones brand themselves as having a 'carbon filter'. I thought they were all carbon?

Cruised 550 miles / 885 km through mountains covered by snow under a bright sun with dry roads. Unfortunately, I kept the top up because it was actually cold, but for the last 85 km or so I followed a SLK 350 dark blue or black and we zoomed around traffic and we hit 95 miles per hour as our top speed. We parted our ways when traffic became heavy and after so many hours of driving I played it safe and just kept with traffic and then took a break at a rest area when crossing a state border. This drive reminded me of how much I love the SLK! Also avoided several accidents...knock on wood.

I got the wood tools out and built these, using 6x2 and 4x2 and they have two heights and the top is solid so it can also accommodate axle stands if I need to take the wheels off.

Overall height is 18” I thoroughly recommend them!

^Like it and original idea.

Gave mine it's daily run to sort the in laws.
Bit 'Dukes of Hazard' with all the grit getting blown about.
Was looking at dropping roof but a bit too gusty for my liking.
White on roads, sometimes salt, others ice, made things...erm...interesting to gauge which is which.
Managed to get a plastic bottle stuck underneath whilst dodging ice!
Couldn't stop as unsafe, so unholy row until just before I could stop, when I saw it spin off behind and to the side of the road.
Coming back, weather so bright (freezing cold) I though 'Top?', didn't and lucky not to as wind had picked up again shortly after.

But, what made me go wide eyed was the oil temp at the start.
-3C!!! Made the first few kickdowns a little grumpy.

I took the 350 out of the garage to do the tyre pressures and change the wiper blades. Having already been out early in the fiesta on its winter tyres i thought why not have a more interesting ride to the fuel station on worn 3mm rear summer tyres ! Yup lot more fun and smiles.
Lots of little villages within 20 mins of driving and have to lots of people walking and giving the odd wave. Not sure if they think you are mad top down at minus 2 or its just seeing a shiney car out having a steady bimble. Was fun and no issues after weeks of doing nothing. About 100 miles since dec i am guessing.

Just reference to a posting by Tomato about a groan from his roof first time he opened it recently. Mine made a groany/ rattling sound on the first close after a couple of cold months was fine Shen I opened it. Likewise I operate it 3 times and all was good so should I be worried or is this sort of normal after sitting. Never heard it before.
Anybody got any thoughts other than a good lube when the weather gets warmer.

^ Probably just lack of use.
Lithium grease the joints, clean and gummi the rubbers and it will go.

When I got my 1998 a few years ago the top wouldn't even open without hitting the top while holding the switch. When it did move it made a lot of noise.
Cleaned and used lithium grease and it's worked great since.

I can't help myself, it's lockdown-itis, but all that's going through my mind is " Jenga".
It must take a lot of jacking to get her that high.

to arrive.
Well, arrived a few days ago.
cost 19 euro including shipping.

Have been pondering to do a DIY > one man work
or not or send to some workshop to do it.

Took me a month to decide to do it on my own.
A lot of works & took the whole afternoon

Went to buy plain flour to make pancakes and ate them with bacon and maple syrup. Thing is, the store is only 5 minutes away yet it took me 2 hours to get there and back. Lots of fun going sideways around a rural roundabout with the traction control off on wet roads. Glorious little motor screaming like a banshee.
