Has anyone done any serious or not so serious weight reduction?

I am weighing (sorry) up the options and looking at what could come out...

So far the headrests are out and that's about it.

A lot depends on desired outcome.

Pure performance car, or useable daily driver.

Spare wheel in UK is an immediate consideration.
Carpets, sound proofing, lighter wheels, lighter (but probably shorter lifespan) exhaust.

Daily driver, I'd consider work on the pully for power.

But...losing, or redistributing weight may affect handling.

I could strip out a lot if I was happy to sacrifice my comfort. But I want my SLK to be as comfortable as possible. So I'm at odds with myself.

Considering head rests ARE a safety feature (ie : whiplash), I'd be very hesitant about removing them.

Besides, is 10lb? 15? (or whatever) worth it? NEVER notice the difference anyways.
