I got a lot of Trophys. Not so sure what that brings to my account;-) No, I haven't read all posts here yet.
That's across the various platforms.
It something that the youth like, apparently.

You can just ignore them once you've had the notification for each.

I would like to know how to turn off the Recommended Reading, I hate it when sites "recommend" and want it gone.
Maybe if that can't be done you could move the breadcrumb above Recommended Reading so it can sit there down the bottom, ignored and alone.
@AG Jeff
Last I saw on this, you asked user for browser details.

Google Chrome is up to date
Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Can't see a full resolution, other than folks have reported spell checker to be working now.

traffic is down per se since it is new and members might have been gone over the usa 4 day holiday
in the past we averaged daily about 80-100 members. now about 15. it was explained to me the higher previous numbers were robots. so daily we are at about 20 max members and about 400 guests, down from like 1500 guests
things are picking up though

I have spent some time on this forum to understand all the functions here on the new forum and there is still confusion on my end and frustration. I have to say I find the new lay out about as exciting as a driving a Ford Escort with Rally Stripes. I personally have slowed down over the last days posting and responding to posts because after a while the new lay out frustrates the bloody Heck out of me just like my Mini forum did that also went thru a chance and now has the same lay out and is powered by the same Company. I checked and posted several times a day on the old forum but since the change it is less important for me because who needs more frustration in there Life,s I know it is not about me but just my two cents. The change reminds me of the mistake Coca Cola made back in the days when they changed the look of the Classic Coke we all know how that turned out in the long run.

Just another thing that I find frustrating is that I can not edit my posts after 15 Min. I know that time can be changed at any time since I also complained about it on the Mini F56 Forum and they changed it to 1 hour.

Like I stated before I understand that the old forum needed an update but why we had to become a part of the Giant Car Forum Chain and look like the rest of them is a bit hard to understand. 🙄🙄

Here is the Mini Forum to compare

Unless it was changed since yesterday and no one told us, it's
24 hours
Daniel, not 15 minutes. And the reason given to us was after analysis, they discovered that the MAJORITY of members made edits (if any), within that time period. We have posed the question of increasing it but have not received a definitive reply yet.

It seems to me that there has been a tendency, very prevalent on the Mac, to make interfaces less complex. I completely understand why that’s necessary particularly on mobile platforms where there isn’t as much real estate as on a computer screen. The previous interface of the forum was pretty difficult to navigate on the telephone and so it itself had a mobile version.

I much prefer the granularity of the full desktop version of the previous iteration. However, it doesn’t really make much difference to me. I’ve been able to learn how to find my way around, clearly people are working to clean up errors and discrepancies and requests from members and the like. I believe I’m adaptable. Also, exercising your adaptability muscles is supposed to be good for the brain.

It’s not making any difference to my use or my engagement with the forum and I for one would like to congratulate the admins who have been working so hard to get this all shaken down and sorted for us - with such good grace.

Mobile or desktop. Old forum, I used desktop exclusively (99% of my work is on tablet). Now, this current forum that switch is not needed as I see no difference in d.t. or mobile.

Less clutter is preferable but not at the expense of drill downs to see buttons that are there in a desktop view.

All what you're used to.

I’m in complete agreement with you Mr DaBenz. Did we have a choice?

You did have a choice in the old forum--original was blue (classic) or the new "red" which I could not adjust to in addition to the usual mobile or desktop using the browser controls (not the forum).

Now, it's only the one view within the forum. Using browser controls there is no difference..

I meant, did we have a choice not to change at all?

Change to this new format? Nope. And there is zero chance of them reverting to the old.

Well, I say never . BUT.......

As has been said several times, no going back.

The change is being driven by the owners of many forums AND the various methods of viewing.
Initially it is a one size fits all.

The Admin helping us is working hard to tweak this forum towards our needs.

It's a done deal, I'm afraid.
Now, we have to move forward adapting the 'fixables'.

The FAQs are now at the top of every page. The three dots under and to the RHS of the banner.
That is thanks to member suggestions and our admin working to improve things.

Mr Du, Mr DaBenz,

This was my point, although I have probably been being too gentle.

"We didn't have a choice. People are working really hard to make it work for us. Point out what's not working. Make suggestions. But, deal with it everyone and get over yourselves".

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Rant over.
