I've not read about people waxing their wheels before (in truth, I haven't searched for it either), but I tried it today. I had noticed some discoloration (dark/light spots) on my black wheels after washing and blowing dry. I had previously sealed the wheels with Jet Seal, to help with the brake dust. But I wanted to try something that would make the wheels evenly colored and have a bit of protection too.

I used Chemical Guys Black Wax -- not a promo, I just happened to have some and like that it doesn't leave white residue when dry if you happen to miss buffing a spot. I'm pretty happy with the results!

Would the quality of the result of this depend on the finish of the wheel? Mine are "satin" which is sort of between matte and shiny. I worry that applying wax might make my wheels fully shiny. I can't tell from the picture what type of finish your wheels had before you applied the stuff.
