, unveiled Monday, makes Walser Automotive a luxury-brand player in a major way. The group’s Minnesota holdings represent domestic and import mass-market brands with the the lone exception of one store that sells Cadillac in addition to Chevrolet and Buick.

With the Wichita purchase, Walser adds the Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, Acura, Mini and Sprinter brands to its holdings for the first time. The Wichita group will be renamed Walser’s Wichita Luxury Collection.

The Walser brothers bought the Wichita stores from owners Vic Scholfield, Tom Devlin, Steve Hatchett and Bobby Cuillo. Scholfield, Devlin and Hatchett sold their entire stakes. Cuillo sold a 20 percent stake but retains 5 percent ownership, Walser said. Cuillo, who had been with the Kansas group since 2008, will remain as managing partner of the Wichita stores and will handle dealership operations, manufacturer relationships and expansion efforts.

Walser said the Wichita stores are ripe for growth. They generated sales of 1,500 new vehicles and 500 used vehicles in 2015. Walser’s Minnesota stores sold 18,000 new and 18,000 used vehicles in 2015. Those combined 2015 new-vehicle sales would have put the new Walser at No. 48 on the Automotive News list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S.
