I was looking in the junk drawer for batteries and found a vintage 2000 Escort Solo radar detector. Guess I could ask my buddy to light it up with his police radar as a test. We live in a sparsely populated area where most police agencies use old style radar ****. No laser or cams in this locale. When new it was great.

Will it still be effective?

I think you have an x band detector there.. and I believe there are a couple of other bands they are now using. Are they permitted there Gregg? I bought my brother in law one before we returned from Ca. First week out, he was "counter detected" by the law, and a) got two points, b) a $300 fine (about the price of the unit then), and c) the officer crushed it with his heel....

Vintage radar detector

I suggest you throw it away or give it to the kids to play with.
For acceptable protection buy a new Valentine ONE and be done with it.
I just bought my 2nd. V1 in the last 15 years and they are doing a great
job for me. I never leave home without one in my cars.

Instructions say X, K, and Ka. Units are legal here.....they are used for "safety" but not OK on commercial vehicles. It's bad form for a cop to destroy personal property. I wouldn't have paid that ticket without a fight,,,,,,what radar detector?

It is not legal here to jam with a projected signal, but you can buy jammers from Wizards as they are called......very effective, but expensive....about 800$ I've not used the rediscovered unit for 8 or more years.....I drive fairly conservatively....just thought it might be fun.
